Brothers, you have bigger fish to fry than worrying about whether Bobby Ray can buy a beer in town instead of having to drive to Wills Point.
You need to look at your flock, your rock-throwing attitudes, your "good-old" networking that serves to do nothing more than to set yourselves up as Pharisees, and you might need to set yourselves up as an example of living the message of grace. Maybe a bigger issue is how your local school districts are handling the funds, how football is god over academics - along with God, and how rules are broken to serve your local "Pharisees" sitting in their administrative offices, thinking up new ways to steal from the district - whether that means not buying student resources and hiring their relative's non-certified friend down the street - and buying new uniforms and hiring their endless number of coaches. |

we need to work on getting this town back on the map!!!!!!!!!! Grand Saline can be the place instead of a dirt town the older people want it to be

I was born and raised in Grand Saline and remember it as a thriving community with an active commercial downtown with plenty of activities for residents. It has saddened me to watch GS become essential a "Ghost Town" with many empty buildings. The folks in GS need to look at the bigger picture. People who drink will drink no more or no less whether the area goes wet or not -- they'll just drive a little further to get it.(And people who believe that drinking is not happening in GS are simply "sticking their heads in the sand". People in GS have been drinking behind closed doors there since I was a child in the 50s.) All the energy being expended on fighting the wet issue should be redirected into rebuilding the commercial aspect of the town and that includes judicious use of any tax revenues stemming from the sale of liquor.
