Don't our Downers Grove Children have better things then to be distructive to our schools?
Parents need to parent these children, know where your kids are, who they are talking to online....
We do not live in a bubble, bad things happen here too.

It's not always the parents fault. Doe's this child have a history of mental illness in his family? This child should get an evaluation and the help he needs. It's to easy to always blame the parent. Sometimes kids that are suffering mentally our just beyond a parents control.

Maybe if these "Parents" kept a better eye on thier children, Dist 58 would not be having to repair the roof and classroom.(that I am sure are going to be paid for by raising my taxes)
These kids had nothing else better do to, and I DO BLAME the PARENTS. If he had mental issues, he should have been enrolled in programs, or on medication!
Parents blame too many things on others, this is the fault of the family he was raised in, where is teaching respect for others and other property?
Not to mention Not to play with Fire?
Isn't that Parenting 101?
They should have to pay for the repairs as well as those kids doing many hours of community service!
One of them already had charges pending for starting a fire before...shouldn't the parents have kept a better eye on him, or locked him in the house, let him burn his own house down instead of causing damage to someone elses property!!!

It's hard to keep an eye on a teenager 24 hours a days, especially in the summer.

Parents are not to blame when children have mental illness's or emotional problems. It's up to the doctor's to take care of it.

So, children that kill themselves, should there parents be responsible? Often kids who kill themselves have mental illness or emotional problems.

Yes Parents are responsible for what thier children do,no matter the situation.
If you cannot support them, raise them correctly, or in the cases you state, medicate them properly, then you shouldn't be a parent.

Not sure your age, but think back to when we were younger, none of these drugs were around, why you ask, because our parents took control of us..
and the teen suicide rate was NOTHING...it is lack of a parents Love and emotional support that lead children down a broken path.
Parents need to be more involved!!
I have a teenager, and I do know where he is 24 hours a day...it is called respect, he respects me enough to call and check in every hour or so while he is out. Responsibility...teach it, it works.

You are going to blame doctors?? That is a cop out for the parents..BE A PARENT, DO YOUR JOB!

I didn't blame doctor's, I said you can't always blame the parent.

Teen suicide rate wasn't talked about like it is today!!! Mental illness also wasn't talked about either because of people like you.

People like me? so you are blaming me for kids Mental Illness?
The reason the metal illness rate is up is because parents do not parent, they let the kids play video games (that are not true life teaching) or plop them in front of a television for hours at a time (again not true life teaching)
the minds of todays children are being ruined by passive parents, with the "Don't know don't ask" attitude. If they are home when they are supose to be, not causing trouble and doing "ok" in school then leave the kids alone...
this is the parents first mistake...
Not mine!
These violent games the kids play today, most of the kids act these video games out and that is the reason for higher suicide rates, as well as lack of parenting.
EVERYTHING goes back to the parents...you teach them what they need to know, you should be guiding them, taking the time to teach them..so yes I still do think it is the parents fault.

Why should I or other Downers Grove Parents pay for the damage that these children did?
Should you pay for what your neighbor's kid did?
No, it should be the childs Parents that pay...or the child himself....
