American Airlines, Mexicana waive change fees for Mexico flight...

hi im due to fly june 24th to mexico with my boyfriend, does anyone know if it is safe bcoz of this swine flu? x

I don't get it. Why are the airlines retroactively increasing their fairs because of this? I don't see the connection other than it is a way to make more money.

There are cuerrently more confirmed cases in N.Y.C. than in mexico! The weather in mexico will decrease the the virus's ability to spread i'm going May 20th and have no plans to cancel.Don't rely on the media to make you feel safe ! check the cdc site for regular unhyped updates...(sit on it a week or so.

I agree!!!! they are trying to charge me 150 for rescheduling flight. My flight is on 5/10, around the cover. It's an outbreak. They need to waive the fee!!!!! I am so pissed abouut Mexicana's BAD customer service

Vice president George Biden said to not fly to Mexico and stay out of enclosed places so I don't think it's safe to fly or ride in buses yet.

I can't agree more! Mexicana airlines customer service is the WORST! I just tried to cancel a trip from LA to Cancun on May 17th and was told that I would then have one year from date of purchase date to use tickets, but will have to pay $150.00 per ticket ($300.00) to reactivate the ticket. ALL OTHER AIRLINES ARE WAIVING FEES ! I am getting ready to send a VERY nasty email to their customer service. If anybody else is flying Mexicana ,you should do the same,there is strength in numbers...This is their email address:

You can't do that. You're supposed to check in at least an hour before your flight.

We're in the same boat. We're scheduled to travel to Puerto Vallarta on May 14th. Mexicana is the only airline that isn't waiving their rebooking fees, nor refunding tickets. They're Mexicana airlines for god sake! They run the highest risk of spreading the darn virus. Yet, their not being as accomodating as everyone else. Not to mention, their customer service people are extremely rude. I've already sent in a complaint. Doubt anything will come of it.

Mexicana have just extended the fee waiver dates.
Passengers booked on domestic flights and who are scheduled to travel between April 24 and May 10, 2009 will not be subject to ticket change fees.

You are more likely to be killed in a crime involving a firearm purchased at a gun show loophold than to catch the swine flu.

People from Mexico got it really bad because they already live in the most polluted city.
If you go on vacation just wash your hands and be careful.
It is just like any other flu.
There are only a few cases in the rest of the country.

I cancel my flight to arrive to the city of mexico on april 12, 2009 because of the swine flu that is going around in Mexico City. I called today customer service to reinstate my flight and I am being told that I need to pay an additional $366. because the flight that I bought was an internet transaction and supposelly they don't have access to the same screen where I bought my ticket wich is mexicana.com , I paid at the time that I booked my flight $373.46 was told that they were waiving the fee of $150. but I was never told that in order for me to book my flight again would cost me the double the amount of what I paid. I have check the internet and the flight are costing $446. so how can they turn aroung and try to make me pay an additional amount of $366. in order for me to use my money that I had allready paid. how can they say for me to pay extra since the person next to me will pay $446. and I'm looking to pay almost $820 in total for the same flight. I rather pay the additional $150. for cancelling than to pay double my ticked. IT'S A TOTAL RIP OFF. what mexicana is doing. and I don't know what to do, but I'm going to call the papers here in california the spanish channels to see if I can comment on that. even if I have to pay for air or adds to let people know that mexicana airlines are a total rip off.
