wow...i really understand how you feel...i was soooo in love with my "cooter brown" but it was a very difficult time in his life and we decided it wasnt going to work....he told me that no matter what that we would cross paths again one day...i still think about him everyday but i stopped believing in the fairy tale of true love with a happy ending...im not for sure where he is at now cause its been at least 8 years but i married a wonderful man....life is 2 short not 2 be happy but sometimes you just cant be with the one that makes you happy

Your ex is probably better off without you in the long run. Sounds like you're leading another man along at the same time you say you love your ex and will go back to him if he asks.

You obviously arent commited to the relationship you're currently in,so rather than use your ex as a reason to leave,you should probably exit the relationship now and be honest as to why. It isn't fair ti you OR your boyfriend to remain in the relationship when your heart and mind are elsewhere...as for wanting your ex back..remember,you're exes for a reason..if a change in the relationship or attitudes or whatever the situation maybe,could result in a different outcome then it may be worth another shot..but if its all just going to be the same,is it really worth revisiting the past? I hope you make the right decision for not just yourself but everyone involved,and ultimately I hope you find happiness..whether it is with your ex,your current bf or someone you haven't even met yet.
