This is easy, Mark Cline would win this in a land slide. He is the only true Mcdonalds All American. He actually had his picture taken with John Wooden and played in the game. Plus whoever started this poll did not even include Danny Moses and Strouther could not hold Moses jock. Hell the other ones besides Cline couldnt hold Moses jock.

Mark Cline is probably the best player to come out of Mingo Co. Wva. I watched Cline and Jamie Phillips in the early 80`s at Williamson, about the same time that Virgie, Ky. produced probably the greatest high school player i ever seen in Todd May. I played basketball at Pikeville College from 72-75, and had the chance to play with Danny Moses, he was a big with soft hands and a good knowledge of the game. Big Mo pulled down 35 rebounds one night against Campbellsville. a record that still stands. Terry Epling from Matewan was another great high school player, who averaged over 30 pts. for Pikeville College in the late 60`s.

Well I'm not sure about Matewan but I seem to remember Ervin Stepp from Phelps when I was a kid.

To get technical, Mark Cline was actually from Pike County. He lived in South Williamson.

Ervin Stepp was Warfield, Ky. in Martin Co.. he only ended up at Phelps because the McCoy Bros. coal company hired his brother Joe Stepp to coach Phelps. The Pike Co. board made it official and said they hired Stepp, but his salary was a drop in the bucket, compared to what the McCoy Bros. paid him.

I heard that he is trying to get back to this area. I think it would be classic if he came back to Belfry.

I think Williamson`s only loss that year was to Jim Miller and Princeton, Miller went on to play at Virginia and went to the final four in 84 and lost to Houston. If i`m wrong correct me, but that was the same final four when Ky. lost to Ewing and Georgetown

Cline was the man! I will say that Moses and Struthers were tough. Strouthers was smooth as silk and made things look easy. Moses was a talent...35 rebounds in a game is sick..Baker was a very good player but not quite up there with the others.

Sweetest jump shot ever. - Played for The University Of Georgia 1966-1970 First team all SEC 1969 and 1970 Averaged 15 points per game for his career. - Played in the Inagural Dapper Dan Basketball Classic in Pittsburgh Pa. March 26, 1965. -This allstar game was played in Pittsburgh for 28 years. The classic moved to Detroit in 1993 and then became known as The Magic Johnson Roundball Classic. Stayed in Detroit for 7 years, then moved to Chicago, and was then associated with Michael Jordan. I believe that is when McDonald's became the sponsor of the all star game.
