Guess what, Newtonsville just hired thier old police chief. He resigned after the sheriffs department investigated him for sexual misconduct and improper use of village property. No one ever said these people learn from a mistake, guess we will all have do start avoiding the town again!!!!!!

What a bunch of illiterate, uninformed yahoo's. If you have issues why don't you get the guts to go talk to those people instead of whining like a bunch of cry baby idiots!!!!!!!!!!

All right, I'm not going to call attention to the numerous grammatical errors you've let slip through with that overwhelming intellect of yours, instead I'm going to ask you a few questions and lets see if you respond. First, I don't see a valid complaint or argument in that prose there. There is nothing stating why it is you feel such disdain for the Chief, a man I've known for more than 20 years. I'm sure you may or may not have valid reasons for such venom to be shot his way but grow a pair and please air them out in this forum so the more informed members of the community can shoot them down like so much fodder. Second, instead of arguing about what the Chief is or is not doing I would start rallying around the current state of affairs for school funding, apparently they need to work more on their literacy if you're an example of that particular education system. I hear that the Congress is voting on whether or not to pass a bill for more government bail out money for rural schools, maybe you should rally people around a cause that will end up being a genuine benefit to your community instead of wasting your efforts smearing one man who's done an outstanding job and taken on more responsibility than is required of a Fire Chief. Lastly, if you have any other further arguments or quips or jabs you'd like to through the Chiefs way then please, I beg you allow me to address them like this. I don't know any one who is deserving of more praise than David Moulden. The man has accomplished so much in his life time and continues to serve his family and community admirably. I enjoy reading unintelligent comments from rural nobodies that try to shred his good name and tear at the reputation he's built. In the end, all your tears do is add to this mans resolve to do the best he can at what he does. --#4 |

I agree with "Chief Supporter". Why would you want to tear down someone who gives his all for his family and YOUR community. Do you work a forty hour week and leave to relax at home until your next shift? He doesn't. His job requires him to be available to the department day and night. He has a vision for this department and has already made great accomplishments. Find something that's not working and make it your project. Help in making YOUR community a better place to live and raise your children.

I have nothing negative to say about the whole situation. I’m just wonder what is all the hub-bub all about? I grew up in the area (around Wayne township Fire Station #2.) I was on the department as a cadet and then as a firefighter. Charley Nause was the chief when I was on. What ever happened to him? He was a great chief. Taught me allot. He had a son Philip and a younger son Chris. Chris was a young boy at the time but you could tell he was going to be a flamer |

Yes, the chief does have a vision for this community. However those vision are not what this community wants or needs. They will look nice on his resume though. HUH?

1 I can tell you that most police officers will not share the same vision that any citizen wants. The reason is because police officers by nature thrive on conflict and disaster since this is the very nature of law enforcement. These things don't exist in Newtonsville, at least on a frequent basis to justify a police force. If the village intends to keep the department they will need to focus on administrating the department in a manner to lead to high public involvment in community oriented policing. The department needs to focus on safety and prevention and develop programs that engage the citizens and local businesses. Otherwise, the department will simply exist to write traffic tickets in order to get money to put in the village's bank account. That's all well and good but when the customers are driven away and the department alienates the citizens...now what? Developing those programs will bring more quality people to the area and chase away those of lesser character. Businesses will follow the people and guess what will come from that...tax money to pay for the department. I agree that sometimes it is necessary to write someone a ticket, but I don't feel the sole existence of the department should be to write tickets. They should be out patrolling the streets at night and making sure the businesses and people's homes aren't vandalized. You can't be checking on my business if you are out writing my customer a ticket. |

That would be the fire chief that has a vision for this community that is not shared by most since the topic on this page is all about him.

reality-I know the Fire Chief personnaly and he has a vision to provide the best public safety to the citizens of Wayne Township and the Village of Newtonsville. He has worked hard to provide our Fire department with the best equipment possible without asking taxpayers for more money. He has mandated training that has allowed our firefighter and EMS people to provide superior care and service. So I ask you, this is the vision that you and most others don't want, is that correct? At least that is what your post implies. Are you a member of the fire department? If not maybe you should volunteer your time to the community. Bet you won't will ya!! People like you want to sit on your butt and let our public safety people and miltary protect your freedom to sit on your butt and complain about them. Aren't you a great American! Stand up and take a bow for yourself! |

I've actually heard the fire chief has done a decent job during his time and to my knowledge I can't think of too many problems within the fire department. Maybe just a few of the employees getting bored, naked and doing something stupid. But it happens just about everywhere when hormones and boredom mix. But I don't think those things are a direct reflection on the fire chief. I really don't understand how he could have a poor vision for the community. What's there to do, put out fires and keep people safe. As long as that's his path I can't really think of how it could be a problem? Can you elaborate? |

Who in there right mind wouldn't want a professional experienced fire department...Oh I know its the ignorant individual(s) who don't see that the vision the fire chief has is to make sure EVERYONE in the township has the best fire department in the area. Look how far this department has come in 6 years under the direction of the chief. WTFD is no longer the laughing stock of the surrounding communities, and now those same departments request assistance from the department, because they know WTFD is well-trained and dedicated professionals. Does it look good on his resume...probably, but to the chief its the community that he wants to improve. Its a shame that there are a few ignorant people who can't stop thinking of themselves long enough to realize that something like a new station and a professional, trained and dedicated fire department makes the community more desirable to people looking to move into the area. Maybe they should build their own resume and get a real job, because they obviously have to much time on their hands...

What I'm hearing about this new fire house sounds like another half thought out deal. Just like the
Wayne Township Police Department. When the realization of what the real operating cost will be look for a fire levy on the ballot and this time when people turn the levy down because they can't afford any more taxation see what kind of services you have then. |

Reality - since you seem to have all the inside knowledge about what it costs to run the fire department, why don't you tell us what it cost today and what it will cost in the future. Give us the dollar figures from your knowledgable sources that you seem to hear so much from and base your statements on. From your statements on here maybe you should run for Township Trustee, with your vast knowledge and experience in public administration maybe you can make a difference. Or is it you don't want to sit in the hot seat and make the tough decisions, you just want to sit on the sidelines and critize the people who stepup and do. If you are really that concerned fill out a petition in two years and run for the next Trustee spot!

Why would anybody volunteer to captain a sinking ship? |

Why would anybody volunteer to captain a sinking ship? Good question. That's where the WTFD is heading with all the spending and guess what next year when the chief wants a big fat raise and doesn't get it I bet he moves on where he will be able to fatten his bilfold at some other community's expense. All he has to do is find someother inept township trustees.

So are you suggesting that Moulden should work for free like Newtonsville Police Chief Casey? Well you get what you pay for and I think the township would have to keep calling Goshen or Stonelick for fire services because no one would ever be there? Just like when you have to call the sheriff for police service now. How long would your response time be from one of those places, much longer than five minutes! Remember the phrase, better for the ENTIRE community. Not just Newtonsville, if you don't like it, get your own fire department. You've done so well with the police service I doubt you'd have any problems getting fire service going. Oh by the way, do you expect to get raises and promotions at your job? I bet you do! And what would happen if you don't? You'd probably leave to fatten your billfold and some other company's expense. Remember, public sevice is still a job. Why shouldn't you get paid? |

Guess what no one was there. Just where do these people spend their time? Quite a jab at the Clermont County Sheriff there. I personally think the sheriff's office does a wonderful job. He's keeping your sorry butt safe isn't he. I'm sure if you have experienced any crime it probably came from someone you know. Sounds like your more suited to city life. There you could live with crime right around every corner and a fire department miles away. I'll say one thing though the name you choose certainly fits. |
