Hooray! The town of Rodey so very much deserves a new community center. This was a very vital historic town in the early 1900's, until 1921 when a gentleman, "El Aleman" was murdered. "El Aleman" was a wealthy farmer and business owner in this small village.
I know that Mr. Julyan's book, "The Place Names of New Mexico" states that Colorado (Rodey) was founded in 1865, but actually a newspaper article written in the "Rio Grande Reporter" from Las Cruces in 1911 states that at that time Rodey was forty years old ... that makes the date that Colorado (Rodey) was settled as 1871.

I can remember staying in Rodey with my grandparents as far back as the 1950's. I loved exploring the area with my grandmother. She would tell me stories in Spanish (which I didn't fully understand at the time) and I would give anything to hear her tell those stories again.

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Capricorn

Happy New Year, Capricorn! I don't think the hair of the dog will help much this morning! If you're socialising again today, keep a rein on your expenses, as there could be a slight confusion in financial matters. Friends will be at your side and bail you out if there is a crisis. Use your strong internal discipline to accomplish your personal goals this year.
