Their parents can't spell. And kids don't have sex at age ten in the sense of having sex, but when you have bad parents and you are curious about something you explore it, it's basic, normal human nature.

The problem is society. Society has accepted and embraced the fact that it's "ok" to have casual sex without being married. Therefor, year after year the starting age gets younger and younger. They only want to do what they see their peers doing. Bad parenting also plays a significant roll, kids arn't being taught anything in the home anymore. I can talk to children and tell which ones are being taught to respect their elders and which ones are being brought up in a home full of cussing, drinking and drugs.

I agree, especially with the bad parenting. You've got 10 year olds being dropped off at places like skate away or the water park with no parents watching over them. The parents really have no idea what the kids may be into after they leave. You've also got 12 and 13 year olds being forced to stay at home alone all day watching over their little brother or sister. Wonder what that older kid would do if the younger one started choking on something or got hurt. Parents are just turning loose of their kids too soon. And those of us who are trying have their kids made fun of all the time by the other ones because their not allowed to just run wild.
Keep it.

I'm not doing that yet, but will. They need to learn social independence. Otherwise good luck getting them to be adults later. Teach them the dangers of other things including sex, drugs, riding with strangers. Give them confidence, then trust them. Or baby them until you died, while having custody of their children because your own didn't grow up.

Sorry, I respectfully disagree with "keep it". Kids in society didn't start being disrespectful and unruly until they started raising eachother. You can teach them all you want but if you start letting them run wild too early, they start learning things from eachother. Thus, if the other parents arn't teaching their kids the same way, your kids start learning their habits. I didn't let my children run around un-supervised and they had no trouble social wise. They have all three earned their college degree and have very respectful jobs.

Yes, parents are turning their kids loose too soon. You never know whose out there just waiting to snatch them up and do bad things to them. There's alot of creeps out there that watch and learn when the kids are home alone. They also notice when your kids are being droped off somewhere alone!

Parents better stop leaving their kids alone so much. Don't they ever watch the news.

So many parents today cannot give up their lifestyle to raise children. That is why they let them raise themselves and their siblings. It is not enough to just talk with your children about "things" you need to be there. Children will find things to occupy themselves with, and it is not always the right things. I always knew that when I decided to have children that I would give up a lot of things. The first good example that a child should have are parents. Not all people who have children are parents.

Ten? Geez. That is disgusting.
For yall up there arguing about how protective you should be.. Dont forget that all kids are different. The judgement should be based on each child's maturity level.
I'd personally rather be safe than sorry.

Have we not learned from that? Children aren't capable of making the decision to raise a family, it just happens.
We can teach them to explore their sexuality or we can teach them to explore life. A single young adult will have many opportunities with less responsibilities. Being in charge of your life diminishes regrets later on.

I have a 9 yr old daughter and I debated about talking to her about sex. Everyone in my family told me that she was too young. One day during conversation it kind of led that way so I talked with her about sex. I wanted to be the one that told her instead of someone at school. She never knew nothing about it (which surprised me, considering how young kids find out about stuff). Our conversation went very well and know she don't have to find out anything from anyone else. I am very open with my daughter and we talk a lot!! Children know more than what a lot of adults give them credit for. I am not a blinded parent!! I did stuff in my younger years that I knew I shouldn't do!! All I can do is try to raise her the best that I know how and hope and pray that she makes good choices!!!
