Because it's his fault. It's his fault the scumbag had warrants, had to flee, had to run a stop sign. It's the officer's fault. What's wrong with this country/

Nobody wants to be held accountable, but want to hold everybody else accountable, that's what's wrong.

Should have just shot him when he first started to run. Then there would only be one no-account dead instead of two beautiful people that had nothing to do with it. But instead, he did what he was trained to do. Don't fire him.

The blame should be with the idiot that fled. If the officer let the guy go and he hurt some the next week stupid people would blame the chief for letting him go and not stopping him when he had the chance. No winners here anyway you look at it.

It's sad that two innocent lives were taken.

However, what was the cop supposed to do? The guy took off...yeah, he shot his tire. But should the cop have gone about his business letting the guy go free?

At least they got this loser and hopefully he can be behind bars where he belongs for life so no other lives can be affected.

Sign at the edge of Mountainair: "We fire cops who do their job, so bad guys are asked to stop by the police office to turn themselves in."

Let the officers do their job. Who sped off? Who was the criminal? Who killed the grandma and the kid?

Damn right let him go. Too many cops nowadays think the law doesn't apply to them. They're people just like us, in fact our taxes paid go to cover their salaries. Listen to the people for once and do what's right

Law enforcement has to do the job. What ever it takes,it must be done. We have had many officers killed in the line of duty. I feel for the family and I also feel for the officer. I am speaking as a father of two policemen. Both have been closed to being killed on duty.

i'd rather have some family keep their lives than some cowboy cop wipe them out chasing a small-time punk in a high speed chase.

Kidnapping is considered a violent felony. I can't think of one modern, up to date, agency that doesn't allow the pursuit of a suspected violent felon.

It really bites that those people died; however, it sounds like the cop was doing his job.

If they fire him. The citizens of Mountainair deserve every violent felon they get!

I Agree. This was an accident-although tragic, there is nothing this officer could have done differently. People need to mourn the loss and move on with their lives. This cop needs to be commended for the job he does on a daily basis. I bet those people who want him gone won't have the guts to do what he does everyday. The criminal is the one who needs to charged-not this man.

He ran a stop sign and crashed into the victims. A "chase" never happened.

NOT the first time for Ed Von K.... Should NEVER have been Chief. Passed Academy late 2007. State Law :certified five yrs. PRIOR to being "chief".
Guilty aka m-a-y-o-r begged to get Ed. certified at Academy. K. Turner is a mouth for Guilty. Is he receiving FREE Utiliies ? Guilty has had Ed Von K. from day one as her "enforcer". This man has a history! Beat a man without reason, kicks down doors, no warrant, fires his gun in residential areas , goes out "collecting" fines for Guilty... chases cars, same thing, different day. We ask Gov. for help. Corruption abounds in Mountainair.

Ed. Von K. is a disgrace to Law Enforcement... NEVER would have passed
academy if Corrupt m-a-y-o-r & Gayle Jones (council) had not lied, begged. This man is /was unfit. Not the first time he has done this. He appears to be against anyone that is not in mayors click. Ed beat a mentally challenged man, to force him to move out of "his" town.Ed got his wish, the guy was so afraid of Ed.Von K.! Young guy died from all the stress. harassment. Ed Von K. has not lived in Mountainair more than 4 or 5 years.
People have reported him for abuse. State has to many "buddies" in office, VERY corrupt.

Bla Bla Bla... If the amount of services you received were reflected in the amount of taxes you pay, you probably wouldn’t have a side walk in front of your house.
