Investigation started in lost rape case

Full story: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

There were so many places the mistake could have been spotted -- from the Wilkinsburg police officer who headed the rape investigation, to the criminal court clerk who never received the paperwork, to the prosecutor who never got the case file, to the victim advocate who never asked how the case was progressing, to the fail-safe that failed.

Let's try to clarify this for you, my cynical friend: It is the Obama administration that is persuing healthcare reform, at the national level, and it's the local District Attorney's office/ local DJ's office that screwed up the rape case. One is local government, the other national; and the former is an issue of procedural competance, the latter one of differing gopals of government. Don't let your indiscriminate dislike for the Democrats bleed into your apprehenion of the different levels of government and their responsibilities. Stay sharp, sir; you're one of the few conservatives worthy of crossing swords with left here on this site.

This is yet another example of a poorly run investigation comin from the Wilkinsburg Police Department. The "buck" stops with the current, unqualified Chief, who has no clue as to what she is doing. How much longer will she hold her position until the Mayor wakes up and fires her?

AAH, my dragon slayer friend, again I disagree. All politics are local, the Democrats that we have here managing the "best" pension system in the USA are the same ones that progress to the state and then the Federal levels. These best of bureaucrats,(Onarato as an example) hold their lower level jobs as they progress through the ranks and eventually become the Federal geniuses that that we now enjoy. It must always be remembered that someone from a political family, such as Zapalla or Ravenstahl have known nothing else except Democratic indoctrination since their early years and they "will" continue with local concept of politics as they are propelled to higher office. Remember Specter was an assistant DA in Philadelphia and actually brags about giving Rendell his first job. We must never forget the base that these politicos bring to the job.

Ahhh, you quote one of the great Democratic Speakers of the U.S. House of Representatives; when it comes to political savvy, you certianly can't go wrong with Tip O'Neill. Even though out of context, and inappropriately to the topic at hand, you still "tip" your hat to a great Democrat, and seem to finally be coming around, old man! Can I forward a change of party registration link to you?

As to claimimg Fast Eddie as a hire, Arlen always goes on to note that he found Big Ed to be a promising attorney, and he's still "promising"... everything to the voters, that is!

You have to admit that Arlen has had the promising thing in his war chest for many a year. It's the delivering phase that he's lacking in.

There have been many a great Democratic politicians, Old "Tip", LBJ (maybe the best), Joseph Kennedy (the old man), Davey Lawrence, to name a few. The one thing they have in common is that they all have cost us a bunch of money. The current leader, BHO, may cost us much more than money though.

When you've finally had enough, the Libertarians are accepting applications.

Tsk, tsk, now... your're being disingenuous yet again, sir. Ronny Reagan more than doubled all the debt, Joe, Sr., Tip, LBJ- and all their predecessors from the founding of the Republic- incurred. We all know he was a Republican (well he was a Democrat and a union president). And though Clinton restored budget surpluses, his Republican successor, Da'Dubya Bush more than doubled it all again! Gotta call that a bi-partisan effort, old man (if you ignore Bill "surplus" Clinton).
