I'm no fan of John Fryer but he is right on target with cutting costs in the jail. If jail were a little more uncomfortable or boring, the food was a little more spartan, and there was more discipline and work for the inmates it might deter people from wanting to return. Unfortunately there needs to be support from the judicial system and I doubt that is there. It's far too easy for any inmate, anywhere, who has too much time on his/her hands, to run to the courts for any real or imagined violation of what they feel they are entitled to.

i read it as, Fryar stating that cuts had been made and Miller stating that, that is the first place cuts should be made. So I think Miller is right on target. I agree with that!!

Re-read the article. Miller is the candidate that said cuts needed to begin in the jail with the inmates. I do agree with Miller. Inmates need to have less luxuries and more accountability.
Don't feel embarassed though, even Fryer is confussed about what he is saying and what Miller is saying. I have heard Miller speak many times. After Fryer failed to make it on the ballot at the assembly I have heard him repeat many of Miller's talking points and issues. I guess he is a little lost and needs something he now thinks may work.
