If you are indeed a member of the family, I am putting together offers to buy minerals. I came across the Red Crest Trust and found your Post. Any interest or idea of how many mineral acres????

My family was tricked for what appears $10.00 for 15/16 of mineral/royalty by your family. The farmers back in the 1920/1930 did not know what mimeral rights were and your family came in and took advantage during the depression. So if anyone needs to be pain it should be my family. This is from the Lavaca County,Tx. If you wish to respone to me you can email me at scottwesley70@yahoo.com. There area many farmers in the area who were done the same way. So stop complaining.

Not necessarily, the heir to a portion of the Waggoner Ranch, which is the second largest ranch user one fence in Texas, found out he was an heir because one family member found him. This was to get back at another family member, but being an heir doesn't always follow a clear cut methodology.

And by the way Houston, Tx Scott, your family was not tricked out of their Minerals for $10. "$10 dollars and other good and valuable consideration" is on every document filed in the State of Texas, and other States/Countries, regarding the sale of Mineral or Surface Estates. The attached link will clarify the common phrase known as a "Peppercorn"

There are very few people that have been able to get the 15/16 back. This is primarily due to the statute of limitations for filing an action against McMullen/the Trust, which is managed by Chase Bank in Fort Worth, Texas. After further research, there is no doubt McMullen was a dirt bag. What is your email David, I'll email you an article that may be of interest.

Same here , McMullen forged my aunts signature when she could only sign with an X. He was also good at hanging around towns and filing his documents after people were deceased an had no recourse or immediate family .

Tanya, I'm a lawyer involved in a lawsuit concerning Karnes County land. It revolves around an assertion made by the plaintiff in a 1943 lawsuit that her signature on a mineral deed to H. J. McMullen was forged. That lady also signed her deeds with an "X". You indicated that your aunt had a similar experience. I'd appreciate it greatly if you could give me information on your aunt's deed. My email is bryan@bryanaldridge.com

Hi, I am one of the very many people that Owen a right to the Mc Mullen Red Crest Trust that one of the Banks in Wichita Falls is in care of. I also hold a 1929 Mineral Royalty deed and a letter from H.J. Mc Mullen signed by him. For the Royalties for the counties of Zapata and Val-Verde in Texas. Have been waiting on the money that rightfully belongs to me and my family. Both deeds have been registered at the court houses in the county were the Royalties are located. you can e mail me at crystalclear5556@hotmail.com
Thank You,
Susan Christian

Susan, I'll follow up with a private email.

But the modus operandi of H. J. McMullen was to buy minerals, then package the bundle by county and sell them in slivers to individuals with a 45 to 50 times markup. His promotional materials are in the Beinacke rare books collection at Yale ( http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/digitallibra... ). I would really enjoy getting a copy of the letter you have from H. J. McMullen and of the mineral deed. I can tell you, probably, whether there have been wells drilled on the minerals your family purchased and if so, how you could get the monies owed to you, which are not much, unfortunately.
