Rosendo we love you to death and this was an accident nobody knows the other side of the story. Keep ur head up and have faith in God. Hopefully the true people who are responsible for this get behind the bars cuz u were trying to protect ur family and urself from danger of being shot at. We love u and god bless u. We will get through this as a family becuz eventhough everything is being blamed on u by the media only god and ur family truly know what occured that night. God will help us get through this. As for Cliff's family we are truly sorry for ur loss, i know this will be hard but the we have you in our prayers also as this was truly an accident and not a murder. Anybody could have died that night and even more peole.
RIP Cliff

I would like to say something to Jose Rosendo Gomez, and the family member of the above post.
First let me say that GOD in heaven does not take care of MURDERER's. St Michael the protector of warriors will not allow that. No one wants to hear his excuses for what happened that night. The fact of the matter remains that Rosendo drank. Rosendo and four other "homies" jumped in a 2008 Chevy Truck drunk and DROVE IT!!! This very reason is why the DUI rate is on the rise!! It wasn't the family lawnmower, or go cart. And Clifford was no ordinary MAN that your BOY killed.
I watched Cliff grow up at Ft. Bragg NC since he was 12. Cliff earned a spot in my family and in my home. Cliff was one of the few young men that had his head on straight. He had a plan, and he implimented his plan through high school being the Battalion Commander for his high school JROTC class. Cliff had all the abilities and skills that any true young leader had. The United States Air Force lost a great Airmen that night, this country lost a future leader of his community, and branch of military. Clifford Slater was a protector of this great nation that Rosendo TOOK FOR GRANTED that night. No one is judging Rosendo, we do not have that right. But GOD will judge him when his time comes. Cliff's family and I are putting trust in the best state for the death penalty (thank you W. BUSH!!). I tust in the district attorney that he will understand that it is a FEDERAL CRIME to kill a Police man... But let us really think about what should happen when a defender of this great nation is murdered!!

To Rosendo's family, first of all I think that it was very slack of you to start your post off by stating, "Rosendo we love you to DEATH." That's exactly what my nephew recieved DEATH! Never to see his son, father, mother, brother or sisters again. Not to mention all the rest of his family including my 5 sons who love him very much and now have to bear his body in his death. We love Little Cliff, Clifford L. Slater Jr. my brother's only son also to DEATH with thanks to your family. You have not heard the sigh of his mother, yet heartless and cold you start off by saying "Rosendo we love you to DEATH." I believe in forgiveness and mercy, but there's another Christian principal called ACCOUNTABLILITY! I don't know if your dear Rosendo can ever become responsible with the immaturity that I see in your family that as a result of your post. I will pray for you that your words as you have shown no responsiblity for the actions of your loved one becomes his prophecy, "Rosendo they love you to DEATH." Thanks SSG Eurich thanks for your support and prayers in our family's time of sorrow.

I'd like to start off by saying that all this that happened is HORRIBLE! Both families(Cliff's and Rosendo's)are suffering dearly!!! And I feel that nobody is to judge anyone because the only person that can do that is the big Man up above!!! It seems like to me that everybody who is a victim in this sitaution was at the wrong place at the wrong time! Are airmen even allowed to go to this club? From what I hear, this is a no-go place for anyone!!!..everything happens for a reason and we gotta keep in mind that you cannot judge by what you hear or see, because we are not perfect and the only one that is, is God!

I am Cliff's step father and my heart is very heavy right now as I prepare myself to attend my son's funeral. I spent my my life trying to prtect him from the harms and danger of the world. Cliff I LOVE YOU SO MUCH and I pomise that you will never be forgotten by anyone. I was deployed to afghanistan when I found out that he departed this world and there was a sense of helplessness that I have never felt before. I felt guilty that I was not there to protect him. But Clifford was a great MAN. Every last one of us can take some part of Cliff's life and use it to better ourselves. He was raised by an awesome mother and had a excellent example to follow from his Dad, Clifford L. Slater Sr.We will miss you son and I love you!!!

I have read this article too many times just to reconcile the realization of this true event. I never would have thought Friday August 14th, 2009 would be the last time I ever would hear your voice. I will truly miss you and all my prayer's go out to your family Cliff!!! So sad to know this world is truly coming to an end when you see good people like Cliff being added to God's list of angels. R.I.P. you will forever be loved and missed!

All I can say is i hope that justice is served to its fullest extent, Slater and I went through Basic together and then again through tech school on the same team, we went through some of our life's toughest times and its best times together. On more than one occasion Slater was there for me and I for him, i know that any and everyone that knew him would gladly have taken a bullet for him as he was a true airman with golden character and a true love of his country and those in it, when we found out we were gonna be stationed at different bases we talked of how someday we would meet downrange and fight side by side...but now he is to be deprived of the one thing he wanted in life..to fight for his country and to bring freedom to those oppressed..and by what an irresponsible drunk driver. God Rest the soul of A1C Clifford Slater you will be greatly missed, the world has definately suffered a loss of a great man but I KNOW you are in a better place... As for the individual who murdered my brother i have no sympathy for you as we are a product of the decisions we make and your decision made you a killer of an innocent man. I can say when you go before the judge you can bet that Slater is looking down upon you in forgiveness (He was that kind of man)... my deepest condolences to the family of Slater he is gone but never forgotten and eternally in my prayers.

This was no accident! situations such as this could have been avoided! You people can pray all you want for the accused, but in the end GOD makes the final judgement, and SSgt Eurich is right, GOD doesn't favor murderers, he burns them. i pray to GOD that justice is served and that the accused pays for what he has done.

First off my prayers and condolences goes out to the Slater Family, I'm sorry you lost a true example of someone who carried the meaning to be: Loyal, Patriot, Honor, and Loving. Slater and I went through Security Forces Tech School training in San, Antonio Texas this time last year. Although I am older, taller, and much bigger than Slater, I ALWAYS looked up to him like he was my OLDER brother. He is the person that will tell you in a heart beat that he will give you the respect as a person as long as you give him the same respect. Slater always stood up for what he believed in and no one could ever change it, and he always protected his friends or a mutual friend if he believe in his heart they did nothing wrong. It hurts to read posts from the KILLER'S family to say he is also a victim....a victim of what? Dude is still living the only thing he lost is his freedom ... freedom like Slater and other men and women in uniform DIE to give him and the rest of us. So you cant tell me he is a victim because he is no way near a victim. Dude decided to drink and drive, and to me when you decide to do that then I believe the government should throw your sorry @$$ behind bars for good. I'm sorry if this offend anyone, but thats how I see it, and I can freely express my views because I not only am I an American, but an American who is serving my beloved country overseas. I remember talking with Slater last year and he was urging me to go to Officer Training School, and he told me when he finish school thats the first thing he was going to do ...
All I could say is I believe in our judicial system, and many people quick to say "Only God Can Judge," but they forget God in the Bible appointed people to judge over this realm on Earth, and they forget the meaning of what the Bible says about "Do not judge, for ye to would be judge" dealt with the person's Spirit. So to me I will not judge the Killer's spirit, but his actions, and that us he is Dumb & Stupid, and I hope he has a slow death in jail

For anyone who dares to say or write anything negative against Cliff's memory,family members or friends: It is written,this Psalm is for you:
Psalm 109
For the choir director: A psalm of David.
1 O God, whom I praise,
don’t stand silent and aloof
2 while the wicked slander me
and tell lies about me.
3 They surround me with hateful words
and fight against me for no reason.
4 I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations
even as I am praying for them!
5 They repay evil for good,
and hatred for my love.
6 They say,[a]“Get an evil person to turn against him.
Send an accuser to bring him to trial.
7 When his case comes up for judgment,
let him be pronounced guilty.
Count his prayers as sins.
8 Let his years be few;
let someone else take his position.
9 May his children become fatherless,
and his wife a widow.
10 May his children wander as beggars
and be driven from their ruined homes.
11 May creditors seize his entire estate,
and strangers take all he has earned.
12 Let no one be kind to him;
let no one pity his fatherless children.
13 May all his offspring die.
May his family name be blotted out in a single generation.
14 May the Lord never forget the sins of his fathers;
may his mother’s sins never be erased from the record.
15 May the Lord always remember these sins,
and may his name disappear from human memory.
16 For he refused all kindness to others;
he persecuted the poor and needy,
and he hounded the brokenhearted to death.
17 He loved to curse others;
now you curse him.
He never blessed others;
now don’t you bless him.
18 Cursing is as natural to him as his clothing,
or the water he drinks,
or the rich food he eats.
19 Now may his curses return and cling to him like clothing;
may they be tied around him like a belt.”
20 May those curses become the Lord’s punishment
for my accusers who speak evil of me.
21 But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord,
for the sake of your own reputation!
Rescue me
because you are so faithful and good.
22 For I am poor and needy,
and my heart is full of pain.
23 I am fading like a shadow at dusk;
I am brushed off like a locust.
24 My knees are weak from fasting,
and I am skin and bones.
25 I am a joke to people everywhere;
when they see me, they shake their heads in scorn.
26 Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me because of your unfailing love.
27 Let them see that this is your doing,
that you yourself have done it, Lord.
28 Then let them curse me if they like,
but you will bless me!
When they attack me, they will be disgraced!
But I, your servant, will go right on rejoicing!
29 May my accusers be clothed with disgrace;
may their humiliation cover them like a cloak.
30 But I will give repeated thanks to the Lord,
praising him to everyone.
31 For he stands beside the needy,
ready to save them from those who condemn them.

Instead of trying to put Rosendo Gomez and his family in the bad part of the story, why don't you look past that. Yeah one young man was "KILLED" not murdered. Murdered is such a strong word! The other is in jail. The stupidity of other people caused this. Not Cliff nor Rosendo. WHy don't you judge the person who started shooting and was the cause of this horrible situation???? There is always 3 sides to a story: Cliff's witnesses story, Rosendo's side and the TRUTH. Which will never be known... How can you ask for the death penalty? It's not like Rosendo got the gun and shot him to death.... it was obviously an accident. Let me ask you a question to all the people reading this comments: What you would if you were in that situtation? What if they were shooting in a parkinglot?? What would you do? Would you stick around to see what is going to happen or are you going try to get the heck out of there. I'm not saying what happend is right and ok, because I know it's not. But it doesn't mean he did it on purpose!I'm sure 99 % of the people in that club were either drunk OR WERE DRINKING!!! We all need to go past all this and pray for better days to come. It's hard to move past a death and your love ones being gone but it's part of life. I do really hope that you can forgive Rosendo for his actions. I know it's easy but you have to forgive to forget!!!!May GOD BLESS THE FAMILY OF CLIFFORD SLATER AND ROSENDO GOMEZ!!!!!

I am sorry for the loss of slater and I feel more sorry for the son that he never got a chance to meet. Our children were born a few days apart and i feel for his son that he may never know his father. We put our lives on the line everyday in the military and for something so petty to happen to a service member is beyond understanding. I hope he was in no pain and will always be remembered for all the good and not the bad. For the people involved in all this, a hard lesson was learned. We worrie about our youth making the same mistakes when the adults need to set the example. I dont expect the parties involved to get any special treatment, we dont in the military when we break the law. To both families I am sorry for the loss and the pain you are all going through. I hope that all the facts are out before passing complete judgement.

we were on the drill team together in high school. i knew that he would one day join the service and do a great job at it. i can not stand to see such a thing happen to such a hard working person. this dude kept everyone laughing on the bus for those hour long trips with pranks songs and snoring. i hung out with him and the guys whitehead, payne, ivory(omom)jasso, ray, walsh, and a few others that were on the drill team going to the movies, bowling alleys and other stuff. im going to really miss him not being around when i go back to the ville for a visit and a hang out with my drill team buddies it will never be the same (or as loud)

-i still can't believe he is really gone; i just want to call him up or send him a message on myspace. He was always there when i needed him; whether i needed a laugh, some good advice, or just a friend to talk to because i was bored. I can honestly say that he was one of the best friends i have ever had. I have never come across a person like Cliff and i know i probably never will. I miss and love him so so much. And i will never forget him.
