I believe that our current sad state of economy is a direct result of over-zealous enviromentalists who would rather see us in a horse & buggy than leading all nations in the development of the most efficient use of the resources we have here. We have to be allowed to tap into those resouces though in order to develop independence from outside sources so that we may continue to help ourselves even while we are helping our neighbors.

Why are persons so short sighted as to proclaim "drill drill drill"? How about conservation? Do you not realize that the resources are limited and finite and the only part of the equation we control is consumption?
If you idiots had followed Jimmy Carter's plan we would be energy independent now wouldn't we? And btw it is eastern Utah.

I observe the following facts:
1) this drilling will make more gas available
2) the additional gas will be sold mostly out of state
3) to get the highest prices, Barrett will send it out of state and try to create the largest market possible
4) a larger market will make gas more expensive for Utah residents
5) with a larger market, the gas price will climb and approach the equity energy cost of oil
6) some financial benefit in the form of royalties and some increased local spending will result
7) Utah families, as a whole, will end up paying more, as the immediate price of gas will easily overshadow any indirect state and local economic advantage
8) Don't trust Barrett nor the environmentalists to give you correct numbers nor a fair perspective on this issue

Preserve 9 mile. This is a national treasure and should be watched over and guarded. It cannot be replaced. Much damage has already been done to our shame. If you have to go through the canyon you could pave the road so your dust would not destroy it. If you don't care what you destroy for the sake of oil you are sick and full of greed.

I have been a 1st hand observer of the Nine mile area, West Tavaputs and surrounding areas for the past 50 years. Barrett has done more to protect this area than any other entity ever involved, and there have been more than a few. Since this area has come under increased scrutiny of those who would fain concern with preserving it, more damage has been done by those who are "loving it to death". There are now protective" fences in front of some of the panels??? Let Barrett continue their positive preservation and you "conservationists" go home are re-evaluate what you are really trying to accomplish!!! Pull your heads out of your back pockets!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Gemini

You'll need every ounce of patience today because even the best-laid plans could go up in smoke under the Full Moon lunar eclipse. It seems that certain people are doing their best to throw spanners in the works, and the more annoyed you become the more they'll goad you still further. If there's dissent in the ranks about how to spend New Year's Eve, you may decide to go your own sweet way and prove that you're an individual in your own right. But try not to let any bad feelings mar the celebrations. Have a fantastic night!
