living in West Mifflin

I would like to know what people think about the teachers, police and anyone else that is paid by the taxpayers not living in West Mifflin. I hear almost weekly of how we are good enough to pay their salaries but they don't want to live in this community. Should you have to live here? I know that the police negotiated this out of their contract a few years ago and I am not sure how many but I know some moved out of West Mifflin almost immediately.

Definitely should live here. The city of pgh makes their employees live there why not us?

I would love to see some statistics on this. Does anyone know how to get them? I know most of our administrators don't live here. Guidance counselors principals, a few the made up Risha jobs. I know of at least 5 police officers but I am sure there are more.

If you can avoid living in West Mifflin, please do so. The "local government" is a TOTAL joke.

Yes and it is just going to get worse with "special needs" types making decision inbetween eating boogers and staring creepily at women.

the median income for WM is mid 30s. if you make more than that, get out now! If you have kids and want them to have a great future, leave this 4th tier school behind. Things are only going to get worse.

Don't agree! I think we have some good teachers its the admin. that sucks! My child graduated from this school district and now at a great university and doing very well. The reason for me asking the question was not to make this another bashing of everyone it was simply meant to get information. I would love to make it so that if you work for the taxpayer then you should have to live in this community.

I agree in part. Primarily, it's the school board that needs swept out as well as the upper administration. A good system, by itself, will be inviteing to live in. No one should be forced to live somewhere.

The meeting of the WM School Board of November 12, 2009 has been relocated from the borough buiilding to the high school auditorium on Commonwealth Avenue. BE THERE! You will be enlightened and excited.

West Mifflin is known to bash people in any forum,they cant say it to people face ,so they take out their frustrations in here.I call them vaginas.

Kira how what about one of your famous polls to see how many people think if you are getting paid by the taxpayer you should have to live in this community. If you do not live where you work what incentive do you have to make the place where I live and work better. I own a business in this community and have a fair amount of money invested in it. I would love for the police and school employees to live here also. I live and work here that's why I try to make it better. We can make this a better place to live.

If Risha was in charge of hiring people to work in this borough,he'd get all his puppets from outside of the district.His hiring practices over the years were 80% of people not living in the borough,and 20 % living in West Mifflin. That's a fact!!.And Olasz said (in her sympathy letter) Shar wants to hire West Mifflin residents if qualified for a job in the school district'. Looks like Risha has tipped the scales to his side,now Shar just wants to balance the scales,and Olasz rips Shar for it. Where did it get her? She's dome with politics in this borough,she knows it too!
