The voters in West Mifflin have spoken, and they have sent a strong message to those who want to take advantage of others. Diana Olasz only has to look in the mirror in order to blame someone. I hope the fundraisers and supporting Pat Risha was worth it. It only caused her to be the first Democratic and Republican endorsed candidate in the history of West Mifflin to lose a vote to a write-in candidate.

After December,I doubt if Olasz will ever show up at the meetings.
I mean with all her concern for the kids education and all that stuff she typed out in her letter. Will she still be dedicated to the district and show her support for the kids of West Mifflin,or when they lose an election,do they ever show up again? Time will tell!

Congrads Phil! This is a major step in the right direction.

It might be a good time for the Shar Supporters to win gracefully. I know after Phil, his wife, and kids were inexcusably bashed here, it is really tempting to rub it in their faces. I think we are better than that. The election results is the scoreboard that does the talking. The Olasz kids are pretty innocent in this and shouldn't be harassed. Don't do anything stupid like throw "Vote for Phil" signs in the Olasz front yard - it is not what we stand for.

There are many hurdles ahead, and several problems are entrenched in the school district which will be difficult to fix. This is not the time to pat yourself on the back and say we won and that's it. Actually, more support is needed now more than ever. I would encourage more participation and attendance at the school board meetings. Try and understand the issues and continue to provide backing for your candidate.

Phil will now be under the spotlight and scrutinized by his opposition. He will need support to remain focused while his supporters can fight the battles on the small fronts directed from his opposition to distract or discredit Phil.

Phil, you and your family stood pretty tall during this ordeal and stuck to the facts for which you gained respect and votes. You didn't stoop to make fun of your opposition's, their spouse's, or their kids' looks. Substantiated issues were raised; not issues based on conversations with my friend's neighbor's barber's uncle.

Way to hang tough Shar family!

People are moving out not because of the schools, they are losing jobs and losing homes. There's no work around here. The younger folks are moving out for a better life, not because of a failed school system.
Maybe if they can get bogus Master's Degree's,and get a job with the school system, they might stay. But then again, there are honest people still left in the borough, that dont want handouts.
It's a domino effest,West Mifflin will be right behind McKeesport,Clairton,Duquesne,e tc. all ghost towns in 5-10 years.By then all the folks in West Mifflin will say ,"Why didnt we leave when we had the chance!"

I would love to know how many of our school employees (teachers) that have school aged children live in West Mifflin? That would be a very interesting number. I see more and more houses going up for sale and most of those that I know are young families. Does anyone know the answer to my question??

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aries

In recent weeks you've been quite concerned about a loved one, and things are likely to come to a head as Mercury turns in your mid-heaven. You may be able to solve the problem simply, which will be a relief all round, but there's a chance that you may have to do some serious thinking or get some expert advice before you know exactly what your next step should be. You may have to take official action of some kind.
