lets talk about what she did good why focus on that she was homeless for like a year. She lived in the wealthiest t own per capita in the country ..... That’s my friend.. What if that was you what would be your story.??. A unemployed -want -a -bee news anchor died in a car accident. Unemployed and still looking for a real job. Would u publish it????

I'm very sorry you lost a friend.

What I learned about Sara from the article was that she was an incredibly driven woman.

I feel the article mentioned she was homeless at one time only to let us know how hard she worked to better her life. She must have been an amazing woman!

She was struck by a 19 year old girl at freeway speed? Why? Wasn't there slower traffic due to construction? Was the second vehicle's driver texting or on the phone? Volume up to high? Can't understand why the driver didn't see all the other lights everyone else could see. Following so close, the driver couldn't stop?

Probably another young, inattentive driver that took another person's life. The victim is now a statistic. Very sad for a girl who was working hard and had a job.

So sad!!:(( I really hope they pull the phone records of the teen driver, it should be a standard for any accident.

Once again somebody was most likely not paying attention and someone ended up killed.People seem to foreget that there driving 3,500 to 4'000 pound automobile and not there living room chair.
they talk or text on there phones,eat,or even drink there coffee,and then pow they wonder why they just got onto an accident.And the worst part about it is that it will never stop.I know it's a waste of time and effort but how about we pay attention to are driving and hang up that dam phone.

my sympathies to friends and family. I sure agree on pulling the phone records on the 19 year old. We are going to lose alot of people in the coming years to all these texters. When you are looking down and wrapped up in saying something earthshattering like OIC, ignoring the warning signs and brake lights there is not much hope. Quite ironically my accident with the texter happened right by Century College. I think we could start by making these people pay for the funerals as it is the least they can do, there really are no answers, just that we will say goodbye to alot of innocent people in the future because of the ignorance of some.

Contrast the facts here (no helmet, a fatality), though, with how one small difference (had she been on two wheels instead of four). Go back and check those instances of motorcycle deaths over the last two years in the PiPress and Strib (particularly the comments)- completely different - dismissive,scolding, scathing, mocking, dissing.

Very True Very Sad: I hope the 19 year old adolescent snot who rear ended her gets her just due. I don't know the circumstance, but too many times, I see these neanderthals texting, talking on the phone, eating, reading, drinking a beverage, weaving in and out of traffic, only to get the stop sign or exit, one car ahead of me. If the 19 year old had hit a motorcyclist, she would get a slap on the wrist.

P.S. I don't like the tone of the writer of the story either. The woman being homeless was irrelevant to the story.

I knew Sara from the time she was a little girl. I think that the "homeless" label is a bit misleading. While she may not have had a place of her own, she had a plethora of family and friends that were more than happy to let her stay with them. So shile she may have been "living out of her car", she was not, in fact, "SLEEPING" in her car. I don't think that fact is made clear in the story. Sara was a beautiful woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all who had the priveledge to know her.

I knew Sara for 13 years. She was in fact NOT living in her car, and not for a year! Like smrtgrl said, she had many friends and family that were helping her out in any way they could.

I think the fact that all the news channels are pushing the "homeless" factor is for the sympathy angle.

Sara was one in a million, and I know there will never be someone like her in this world ever again. Her personality and smile is what made her a wonderful individual. I have never seen more drive and determination in anyone in my life. She was determined to succeed.

This accident sounds like a clear case of somebody talking or texting on her phone while driving. I hope the State Patrol have checked thoroughly.

Sara was first a student of mine and then became a close friend.

The 'homeless' rhetoric and the 'living out of her car' terms were terms she recently applied to herself... although they weren't exactly accurate when she said them. This summer she stayed with me for a while and I, like many of her friends, told her that as long as we had a place to stay, so did she.

The thing is, it is true that several years ago Sara was living in her car. That's what made this summer and her housing instability even more scary than it would be for others.

Sara was an amazing person and I'm glad to have known her.

I met Sara at many Phi Theta Kappa events, I was the regional president last year and was in Texas with her. Sara was a bright person with a personality to beat. She knew how to brighten up a room and make people smile. It is tragic what happened and I am so sorry to the family. Phi Theta Kappa and the world have lost an amazing person with a beautiful spirit.

With a keen sense of the obvious it is clear the 19 year old driver of the killer car wasn't watching what she was doing!

I have always honked my horn at these snot nosed idiots and give them a hand gesture, MAYBE they wake up!

No matter why the 19 year old driver hit Sara, it was some form of inattention. The 19 year old wasn't more than 3 years out of driver's ed -- and they teach you that you're responsible for being able to stop your car. Sara was stopped, she didn't swerve into the path of the Honda.
