What is it he is supposedly protesting? How about putting that in the article?
And it sounds like the business was going under long before someone tampered with his mail at the YMCA. If you are staying in a YMCA, you don't have the money to run a business, and that is why it failed. |

Why not give money to Chicago homeless rather than some doofus homeless protester in Naperville? |

Scott Huber is actually quite wealthy. He says he doesn't have money as a ruse for more charitable donations. He doesn't have any real expenses, and every once in a while gets a 'C-note'...think about it.

I've met this guy a few times after being tipped off to his "protest" by a friend I met for lunch in Naperville. Noble? Not quite. This guy is mentally unstable and should move on. After speaking with him it is very obvious that he needs help. I don't live in Naperville, but with his proximity to some of the downtown bars in Naperville, I'm surprised the twenty somethings don't harrass him more. Sorry Scott, move on, get an apartment and stop your whining. You've had your hand out long enough, take the profits and head south.

Naperville, the land of milk, honey, gold lined toilet bowls, and this freak.

so since he is mentally unstable and needs help in your opinion he should just move on and become someone elses problem? id say hes pretty smart being homeless in naperville and on those streets has to be alot safer and more pleasant surroundings than the big bad city would be. |

Probably to keep the bum in naperville. |

There are two guys like this in my former digs in Barrington. One rides a bike all day long and the other has a beat up old car with lots of plastic bags in the back seat and rear window. I'm surprised that Nap would even allow this to take place as most burbs just wrap those people up and put them in the state facility in Elgin. If he comes to Chi he won't have a problem living on the streets because the reality is that the street is the mental facility for the City of Chi. If you get away from the panhandlers downtown and into the neighborhoods and little hide out places you will see many homeless people living under bridges, lower level streets and anywhere out of eye shot. The CPD does nothing about these people because that really isn't their job and also it doesn't really effect the "tourista" because they don't go into those areas anyway. I give them money and listen to their stories mostly b.s. of course. However, in the end we are all God's children. That includes the guy staying at the Trump Tower at 2k a night and the guy at the base of the tower under the el at Wabash sleeping on the sidewalk.

To paraphrase Anatole France, "The law, in its majestic impartiality, allows the rich and poor alike to sleep under the parking garages of Naperville."
Gotta love the Urban Outdoorsman. |

When one cuts through all the noise about some kind of "protest" and other explanations for this behavior, recognize the core fact is this man is homeless. The inability to get along with the Catholic priest in Lisle mirrors his complaints against the North Central College library staff (that are the basis of nonsense lawsuits). For all of the good and mighty things this great nation has done, as a society we do not know how to deal with the homeless who are only a little mentally unbalanced. Did the Trib check to see if he is barred from DuPage P.A.D.S. for inability to conform to the simple rules at their sites? |

Sounds like a cool guy, exercising his rights. Whoever doesn't like it should shove it!

I think, from the way the article is written at least, he sounds like he needs some psychological counseling. He has been in numerous conflicts and is banned from places - this guys scares me, and is just another in the long list of reasons why I can't stand Naperville.

Paraphrasing the late great George Carlin, "anything that makes rich white people uncomfortable is a good thing."

What kind of a church would BAN someone?? I don't think Jesus BANS anyone who seeks Him, so why should a so-called "Christian church"? God's love is open to all, no matter who they are and personal differences should not BAN anyone. Frankly, I find this more troublesome than a man who chooses to live on the streets.

1 I can't park my car on the street between 2am and 5am, but this transient can park his tent there 24/7? The longer he lives on the street, the farther away from reality he travels. He needs to be arrested so he can get mental help through the legal system and get back on his feet. Anyone who voluntarily lives like this for this long is mentally unstable enough to make me cross the street when I walk by him. On top of that, he is abusing the consitution and making a mockery of people who have actual important issues to protest. People have real issues to struggle with every day and this guy is mad because the YMCA didn't give him his mail and a punk stole his computer? Get a PO Box and get out of the street. He could have rebuilt this business of his 10 times in the time he's spent "protesting." |

1 One thing that no one considers though is that he has an electrical generator that he uses for a heater he has in his makeshift hut, as well as for his laptop, and that generator is plugged into an outside outlet connected to the parking garage he camps out in front of. He is therefore using electricity that, to the best of my knowledge, he is not paying a dime for, and he has been using it now for about the last three years or more. In addition, that generator is kind of loud and can be heard from a couple of blocks away, making it qualify as something of a public nuisance. Also, there is a city map on a podium that he will use now and then as a desk to fix up this protest placard that he keeps out in front of his hut. His hut is also now starting to extend out into the sidewalk and he has been known to sit in that hut with his feet sticking out into the sidewalk, causing people passing by to have to walk around or almost trip over his feet. Scott Huber is clearly now become something of an eyesore in Naperville and there are a lot of people who wish he would either pack up his things and move on, or have the city do it for him. Personally, I think the guy is wasting his life doing what he has been doing for so long. He is more than capable to walking away from his present situation get some help and turn his life around and get it back in order. He has had this opportunity open to him for a very long time. Perhaps it is now time he take it, or be forced into it by Naperville, which I believe is now tired of him and his antics. |
