Judge it!As an ICE parent, I will be more than proud to show my face at competitions. The point you made, is that you wish we wouldn't show our faces...so then maybe your gym would have a chance!:-) Winning is not everything...but I must admit, it feels damn good when your paying all the money and your kids closet is filled with jackets and their walls with medals! No shame here...I am and will continue to be a proud ICE parent!!This is a typical case of a sexual predator getting his hand slapped the first time and then repeating his crimes, just like Jeffery Dommer (sp?). What parent in their right mind would send their child to this gym when there are a million other teams out there. If you all left and went to another program, ICE wouldn't be worth owning now would it? Your gym dues have been and are currently paying for his crimes and that's just sickening to me as a coach and gym owner myself. Wake up cheer moms, get out of there and help build something new. Jason knew about the original allegation 4 years ago, along with the entire industry! You all are guilty of keeping this program alive and you all should feel responsibility for keeping this sexual predator in a position to harm your own team members! You all paid for it to happen. All so you could brag at work how good your daughter's team is! ICE parents should all be ashamed to even show their faces at competitions this season! Take your talent as an organized effort and go to a gym with family values. Winning isn't winning when your kids are being abused and asaulted! You just lost in life...and that will stick with you much longer than a few years of national titles.

scenario. a coach gets into trouble and is convicted. does that make the owner/gym bad because they hired him in the first place? look at the cheerleader coaches in the news for the porn stuff. should i not take my kid to the gym where they used to work because of that? if someone was accused of something and acquitted, that does not mean they did it. but if they were accused a second time, then i too would wonder about the first time. and then that person would be out. i see that is what ice athletics did. i see no reason not to take my kid to either gym. gym coach owner this sounds mean but you should worry about your gym, not others. any gym can have problems, but you say they should not move on once they have them? then i know of a few clubs and businesses around here that according to what you wrote have no right to exist

okay before you all jump on me ill be fair and say cheercoach owner didnt say they shouldnt move on. it was on this forum somewhere else. i still say tho watch your own gym and dont judge other peoples choices. a gym is more likely to fail because they dont win than who their former employees are.

I would be careful with your assumptions. There are two games in town and Matt's gym has never gone against ICE in competition. They finished their season with many 1st and 2nd place finishes. Now let's look at the results of the other St. Charles gym...... |

1 It's not about the wins. It's about teaching kids values, life lessons, character, importance of faith & family, good sportsmanship, etc. It's so sad when a gym owner cares only about the # of wins & banners & $$$ that they are willing to get themselves kicked out of competitions from badmouthing other gyms so they could win at all costs & for their own personal gain. The true focus here is the children as they are our future. |

1 That comment is not me. I have no problem posting my name on something i wrote. I will however point out im not the only gym owner in St Charles. And i'm pretty sure my home town does not come up St Charles. You like to jump to conclusions without knowing the facts. And yes i am friends with CE and their staff and i would never say suched messed up things about him. |

Thanks for posting this. I think some of these moms need to splash some cold water on their face and decide what is really important in life and show their girls a true LIFE LESSON that they can take with them : DON'T PATRONIZE an establishment that has been shown to have shady and dangerous blurring of morals. I am just sick seeing these postings 'oh go ICE and CHEER blah blah! Young girls have been VICTIMIZED and you are talking about how great the program is? SICK! |

Yes, you go on and keep sticking your head in the sand. You can bet you'd be singing a different tune if it was YOUR DAUGHTER being a victim of sexual abuse. WIN WIN WIN!!! That is what is really so important! Probably why those girls were so afraid to tell their parents! They know their MOMS just want them to win and how much money they have spent. Don't rock the boat, right? :/ |
If you really knew how to read, you would know that I said in my statement that "winning is not everything". However, it does feel great to win after you invest so much money and time into it. You are right, I absolutely would be thinking very differently if it was my daughter. DUH! Fortunately for me, it wasn't, and my heart goes out to the family that was impacted by this tragedy. The great thing is that the problem has been removed, and my kids will get to continue to stay and cheer at the place they love with their friends. Your statement about some kids being afraid to tell their parents because all they know is that there parents want them to win...again you are right. There are many parents like that, and not just at this gym. Trust me I know many of them from different programs! The funny thing is from that statement, it sounds like you are blaming it on the parents, for why something like this happened. |

1 I hope for the sake of the kids there that the problem was really removed. I don't have firsthand knowlege of the incidents but to know that the guy that is still there DID KNOW something was off - he should have taken action immediately. Don't mean to sound as if I am blaming the parents, but I do hold parents responsible when they don't remove their kids from the possibility of questionable behavior and also I personally would have a hard time justifying staying with an organization where an owner did know that questionable behavior had occured in the past. I wish you and your daughter the best. Not being snarky at all. |

Brad was a tough coach....but ice is definetly not a cult!!! I am sure that jay didn't just "turn his head"---he's a great coach and caring person... so to those of you who don't know the inside story and are just saying things based on rumors I think you have no right to talk the way you are talking...
