Why do I have to pay taxes on a sub human being who don't deserved nothing. I feel that this is wrong to pay.

just southern - There's another article on the same page about a man who got convicted for trying to lure 12 and 13 year old girls. Should I jump to the conclusion that if you like women you probably like little girls?
Besides, as someone pointed out, most child molesters identify as heterosexual whether their victims are male or female.
Finally, being gay is not a crime. Victimizing children is. There is a HUGE difference

Wondering: I do not think I would trust YOU with either my son or my daughter, you sound despicable.
Despicable? Just how do I sound despicable? I was pointing out the disparity in our society in how we respond to sex crimes against boys and against girls.

I'm really sorry you misunderstood me. Abuse is always wrong, no matter who does it. This sort of think disgusts me as well. I just think we as a society need to look at the roots of our gut-responses. Just look at the following stories:

"A former firefighter has pleaded guilty to repeatedly having sex with a young girl and restraining her with handcuffs and straps during the attacks." -CHicago Tribune
He was sentenced to 28 years. No comments (although it is enabled) on topix for that story

"A former civilian employee of the Itasca Police Department was sentenced Tuesday to 100 years in prison for sexually molesting a friend's son a decade ago." -CHicago Tribune
(comments not enabled)

" A Mt. Prospect man was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison for molesting a young girl, beginning when she was 6.

During a hearing before Judge John Scotillo in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court, Ronald Sampson, 25, of the 400 block of East Lincoln Street was sentenced to 7 years in prison on each of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. The sentences are to be served consecutively.

Sampson pleaded guilty in October to the two counts. He initially had been charged with 75 counts of criminal sexual abuse and other offenses. Prosecutors said Sampson began molesting the girl when he was 14. He was arrested after the girl, now 18, became pregnant last year and reported the abuse to a school counselor. " -CHicago Tribune (comments not enabled)

I realize that there are obviously differences in the cases that we don't know about, but you have to admit that the comments are much more vehement when a man abuses a boy.

Again, I'm sorry you misunderstood me. Please re-read my original comments, I hope you can see what I was trying to say.

Look at the statistics, molesters of girls, and priest molesters are far less punished by our courts than molesters of boys. Wondering, was making a point. I agree with the point, we should all ask that question and expect justice to be blind to gender issues. This is one of the few times where I think the sentence was fair. If he were tried in another county, he may have gotten a lighter sentence.

That's a very paranoid attitude. Just be an observant parent. I guess you'd not let uncles be around kids. Or coaches, or.... male teachers or...
Give me a break. Take Reality's post for what it's worth.

Yes, always be observant...duh. But you're ridiculous, and completely overdramatic. I shouldn't have to explain further.

Well, check the profile for child molestors. White, male, middle aged. Of course they don't throw the book at him, he is one of them.

In today's society, you cannot leave a child alone with an adult, it just is a volcano ready to go off. Now, this predator started with "hugs and kisses" with the 11 year old boy???? Parents have to be very leary of any man giving gifts to a young boy.... so sad the kid has to go through this, it can effect his entire social and sexual future, and his trust of other people that are not predatory animals like this man is.
That's what I'm sayin! I've never heard of an 11 year old boy who would even LET an adult give "hugs and kisses". Not even from his Mom. And especially not from some strange old man!

What were these parents thinking???

I'm not a bit surprised.
Right on!

Judge Kathryn Creswell is tough. I saw her in action several years ago at a murder trial. Also, I believe that she lives in Wheaton, so perhaps this is her way of cleaning up the home town.

Why is it that he received 39 years and Priest basicially only receive a slap on the wrist?
A very good question. As a recovering Catholic, I can tell you that not only do the priests just a get a slap on the wrist and then a reassignment, but the laity is asked to take part in days of atonement as if the fault were theirs or that they shared in it.

"Saudi authorities beheaded a local national convicted of kidnapping and raping teenagers and a Pakistani for drug trafficking in two separate incidents, the Interior Ministry said Saturday"

Maybe they should send this guy to Saudi.. now that would be the best place for his kind!!

Depends on the 11-yr-old and the relationship with his mom (and dad). My child (11 yrs) will kiss us, any day, in any given situation, on any street corner, in any alley, at any convenience store, in any department store, in any school yard, on any roof-top. And he is not some pansy-ass-d little boy. He knows...and is comfortable with...his very close relationship with us.

When it comes to someone else trying to be as close? That "someone" better be ready for a swift kick in the balls. My son is no dummy.

These parents ought to be ashamed. Two years later they noticed a difference in his (their child's) attitude? Give me a break. There's no justification.

Well, you're in California. In Illinois, he'll have to serve 85% of the sentence, which is just over 33 years. So he'll be 97 when he's eligible for parole. And it's highly unlikely any governor or President would commute such a sentence for such a repulsive and repugnant crime.

Ever notice how many crimes against children happen in Naperville?
