Walker County bingo brings ethics lawsuit

I dislike the video bingo because there is no real chances of winning from skill. A majority of Walker County residents are either retired or on limited income. It is si silly.

guess we should all learn poker. How long does it take to become really skilled at a game?
Guess we could all just bet on getting closest to the hole in golf or gamble on high school football.
we can handicap the team like horse racing.

Well, if they put the money to good use it might not be so bad. They could contribute a large chunck of money to the public schools, the community, hospital ,churches... ect.

I had to check it out for myself. How can you call slot machines BINGO? There were a bunch of people sitting around gambling and smoking, this could only lead to more health problems.

On the flip side, where do I sign up for investing money into one of these business?

lottery is the way to go.

These Bingo machines are already in the state in a number of different locations. It is time to regulate and tax it. People are already spending their money there. We might as well let part of it benefit the community.

tournament golf,tournament fishing,tournament bowling,tournament poker are all the same a form of gambling. An individuale pays an entrance fee and puts his or hers expertise,knoelege,and skill and competes for a prize. My question is, why are golf,fishing and bowling tournaments legal and poker tournaments illegal?

I have won $2500 at jasper Bingo halls 2 separate jackpots at 2 different casino's....The governor does not want the tax money from these machines.Alabama is so close to any gambling facilities you want to gamble at and alabama gets no money from the surounding states.The governor it has been reported that he received money in his first campain from a organazion in Miss. that was formed especially for his campain and closed down shortly after he got elected.This information is on the internet as well as what he gave his son in laws law firm for his legal work on the bingo laws and how much it has cost to run the investing unit he put in place.Just look it up.

i wish they would close everyone of the places down.it is an addiction just like alcohol. all you are doing is giving hard earned money away. no chance of winning anything. gambling is gambling,you cant sugar coat it. whether you go to jasper or tunica. my vote is to close them all down.

People have a Right as to how they want to spend their money. I had rather see Bingo, or the Lottery than more places to sit around and get "Drunk"

i think it is a big lose for lots of people i would go up there and spend 30 dollars and win eough to pay my light bill and car payment now i will have to drive like 4 hours to try to do this i lost my job because our plant closed

i win more in tunica plus i get free rooms and nice buffets so they can leave jasper closed down for all i care

And of course what you people fail to realize is grandma's retirement money and a third of your dad's paycheck is paying for teachers all across the county what happens when the county schools run out of funding? because i assume you all have no clue that walker county itself is dry therefore when the county school is poor i hope your child is proud of the half whitted education that he or she gets

Living in Walker county without all the casinos (bingo)was a christian community. remember the PTA that was the thing to help our schools. Folks cared about each other. that was days gone by. Going back to Jasper was a shock to see all the metal buildings and neon lights it was like the county line came up to bite everyone. Whoever came up with the idea for all the bingo halls and such might as well brought the county line to the middle of town. The kids of walker county are not half whitted just because you can't go to walker county and spend all your weeks check and let your kids do without doesn't mean walker county will do that. Walker county stand firm and God Help You.
