Shouldnt people pull over and sleep if they are that tired? Also, Ex-Californian drinking and driving is not the same as being stoned and driving....so maybe; just maybe, for once it is just people being STUPID and driving while they are too tired.

OK It's a legitimate question. At 3am I wouldn't need to be either to be at risk for that type of error. Certainly people can be affected differently by pot. However it's hard to put alcohol and pot into the same boat when it comes to impairment. Of course any kind of impairment risk taken while driving is irresponsible. I wonder what kind of field testing could provide accurate information on being under the influence as opposed to having used sometime in the last 30 days?

Oh give me a break...yeah they were high on pot. Another propaganda BS'er here to try and convince the sheep it was weed that was the factor. |

Yes... it is. Back when I was irresponsible I drove under the influence of both. Bullsh!t if you think driving stoned is NOT DUI. Now… I still smoke occasionally and I drink occasionally and I would not drive while doing either. I have been in the presence of PLENTY of people too stoned to drive. It may be a different high but sorry it IS the same as drinking and driving, impairment is impairment and under the influence is still… under the influence. I certainly wouldn't want my family and I to be on the road with YOU when you're stoned. PLEASE tell the truth when you post pro-pot propaganda. |

Thank you for your honesty. I also fit a similar history as you except today I only have the rare glass of wine. I believe we are all as free as we are responsible. If only more people could be as responsible as you are today. |

or was it prescription meds that were a factor? Just a thought. |
|||
I didnt mean that it was safe to do either ~ but it is not the same high. I feel it is more unsafe to drink and drive because alcohol seems to impair you more than a joint. I am not pro-weed but there are other drugs out there; even prescription drugs that are more harmful than marijuana. Many people drive while under the influence of these drugs as well. I was simply stating that there are two different "highs" and marijuana doesnt impair your judgment the same as alcohol. Why is it when you cant blame alcohol you blame marijuana. |

Yea I got your point and yup I have to agree with you it certainly IS a different high. When I was younger, and I know this sounds sh!tty, but I would LOVE to get stoned and drive. It made driving fun! And MAN could I drive better!(note sarcasm) Even today if I HAD to drive under the influence of either it would be easier (and probably safer) under MJ. Yet we know neither is ok, I think that's what you're saying. BTW thanks for the kudos in the other thread! |

I've lived in, and raised kids in, Mendocino County for over 26 years. As a carpenter, I had hundreds of friends who put seeds to soil. Some small, some huge. As I witnessed what pot was doing to just the kids in our area and across the nation, I started a campaign to get my friends to put "Keep Out Of Reach Of Children" stickers on their pounds. I even paid for thousands of stickers, I posted an add in the UDJ and gave them out for free. Result: A couple of local stores said they would be glad to put them next to their register, but no one used them. Almost all of the growers I new stopped talking to me and stooped using me as a carpenter. Dozens of these growers told me the same thing, that the kids can't tell good pot from bad and that they pay top dollar. I have seen first hand the damage done. 22%+ THC does not belong in the hands of young kids who are in pursuit of their primary education. I never met a grower who let knowledge or concern get in the way of profits. All along I have only been concerned for the children's health, educations and futures and you have seen what I have encountered. |

Why cant we just be happy they're OK?
Can you not be happy unless some one else is suffering? This is what is wrong with this county people so sad with there own lives that they take pleasure is seeing others suffer! |

The first accident was my friend's mom and she had her 3 granddaughters in the car. They are all ok, which is just amazing. Luckily she did not hit the cyclist as this reports. She was not under the influence, she was tired and was bringing the kids back home on a long drive from Oregon to Santa Rosa after a summer break. They had an early start and she was just about to take the next exit to pull over and take a break from driving when the accident happened. Please pray for their healing.
