Stoltzfus is an Amish name. That is interesting. Another point of interest, you obviously don't know what you are taking about. Although you are making a sad attempt to sound like you do. Just because a person is Amish does not mean they are a puppy mill. There are many English and Mennonite puppy mills out there also.

I personally feel if a person is interested in an dog they should check out the shelters first. I also feel that people should be responsible when they get a dog, from wherever, and care for it properly for the animals lifetime. Sadly, that is not the reality of the situation and that is why we have so may unwanted dogs.

All Pet stores are puppy mills! Animals for profit!
No matter how you sugar coat it, those people are in business to make money. Buy from them and you support the crime.

I've known Mike Kauffman for many years and can tell you that he truly loves his pups and loves what he does. Why do people stereotype?! Not all brokers buy from puppymills, not all pet stores sell puppymill puppies and most importantly not all Amish are puppymills! Responsible breeders are complying with the new laws and those who won't or can't are getting out of it..With all the new PA puppy laws there are going to be fewer puppymill puppies, a lot less puppies...which will cause the price of puppies to increase, because the breeders have to spend a lot of money to comply...then people will complain about that too...There's good and bad in everything, but Conodoguinet Creek Kennels is definately one of the good ones...

We love our two pet store rejects who are now eleven years old and nine years old. Our eleven year old came to us as a three month old puppy. He has a well balanced personality and he is a real joy. Our other little boy came to us at age two and he has a fearful nature but he continues to improve daily.
Other than their old age, we have not had any serious health issues with our dogs. Thank you for finding forever homes for the rejected dogs. Our dogs would have been put down because of mites and minor health problems which made them unmarketable.

All our dogs are either rescues or from the local shelter. They have all been wonderful additions to our family, each with her own personality.

Of the current two, Sweetie was rescued from South Mountain after being tied to a car bumper with her sister for days on end. Bear comes from a high kill pound in South Carolina & was actually next in line to be put down before we grabbed her & volunteers drove her north.

With all the animals available from similar situations I don't understand why ANYone would buy a dog from a pet shop.

Stoltzfus is not always an Amish name. Joyce Stoltzfus, notorious puppy miller and broker of Peach Bottom is not Amish. And yes there are English and Mennonite puppy mills and even so-called AKC breeders keep dogs in filthy cages in basements in their homes. We’re not stupid! Bottom line is that puppy mills and brokers like Conodoguinet Creek Kennels buy from other puppy mills to sell to pet stores. They don’t give a you-know-what about the health, welfare and genetics of the dogs; these are places where financial profit comes above all else. It is the parents of the puppies that suffer immeasurably. They are the forgotten ones, hidden from public view in barns and behind fencing, literally bred to death. Of course pet stores and puppy mill outlets will defend these despicable places they’ve never seen because they are in denial about the truth behind the fluffy, adorable puppies with an exorbitant markup. Mike Kaufmann may be the exception with his pearly white kennel but only because he’s made a fortune off the backs off puppy mill dogs and can afford his own personal vet who has a satellite clinic right on his property. So what? He’s still part of the problem and anyone who continues to buy puppies from pet stores and breeders while shelters animals die waiting for a good home are also part of the problem. Also did some checking on Whispering Springs Kennel – it is a USDA-licensed wholesaler so are we really supposed to believe that Ms. Burkholder, who sells to pet stores (and other brokers) all over the east, really wants to keep her connection to her dogs? What PR blarney!

There are strange symbols for apostrophes in my reply so I'm re-posting:

To Summer...You obviously don't know what you're talking about.. Do you know Mr. Kauffman or his family, personally? Or his staff? I do..Do you know how many puppies he has rehomed for free...after neutering, spaying, immunizing, grooming and giving them whatever care that is neccessary to make sure they are healthy when they go to their new home. OR the fact that he backs his puppies health? I know for a fact that he goes above and beyond the norm and that he truly loves his pups! So please don't stereotype and don't assume...Just like people shouldn't assume that you're Amish because of your name...don't assume that he deals with puppymills...I wish they were all like him.

Sounds like Summer and Dodger are the only 2 who know what they're talking about but some of their posts have been removed. Hmmm, wonder why? And Tina, are you a pet store owner who buys from Kauffman? Yeah, maybe you are right, he does truly care about his NINE THOUSAND puppies.
