If you plan to have your car serviced at McKinney Honda, be prepared to pay their .95 cent paperwork fee. Yes, it's true -- McKinney Honda charges their loyal customers .95 to store paperwork. The explanation I received from the service manager when I complained was that the fee is associated with the cost of storing service records. I was told that it's a service they provide for their customers and that if I ever needed to know about my car's service history, they could provide copies of my paperwork. Isn't the cost of storing paperwork associated with cost of running a business? Don't they keep all records in a computer anyways? Who keeps paper files?
Another interesting fact about Honda Cars of McKinney: they gave me a core credit for a battery I had them replace but then charged me a disposal fee for the same battery -- what a contradiction. |

1 Hello, I work in the service department as a cashier at Honda Cars of McKinney. If you want your WHOLE $.95 back, you may certainly come back and pick it up. A service advisor wants me to let you know that if you actually care that much to come back and get that WHOLE $.95 back, he will also buy you a cup of cappucino. Thank you for your feedback. Have a great day! |

Sales and Service are two completely different departments in a dealership. The $.95 is for the folders your documents are held in, the stickers that label them, the paper that the documents printed on, and it pays for the file clerk to keep them in order for you. Therefore, if you do ever need your files for any reason, you can easily access them. That goes a long way for just 95 cents.
As for the disposal fee, it is a state law that was passed by Ann Richards. We are required to charge a disposal fee of about $3.00, due to the fact that we are not allowed to just throw the battery away. It does not matter what dealership you go to in the state of Texas. Every dealership is required to charge you the same fee if you dispose of a battery. |

1 I really appreciate your continued efforts to try and justify the stupid .95 cent fee. You and the person who wrote the last response for you are clearly missing the boat. You're obviously a bit dim-witted but I'm sure you make an excellent cashier. Keep-up the good work. |

It is called business overhead!!
If you want to pass on every penny of your cost doing business, should you also charge $0.01 for the ink you use to write up the service ticket, anothe $0.75 for the coke your drink while fixing the car,...... It is stupid to complain about $0.95 overcharge, but is even stupidier to make the $0.95 by a company who makes millionns of dollars each year!!! |

1 Okay sir. I'm finished debating about this. I didn't set the prices, and the $0.95 document fee is there for a reason. The reason may not be important to you. But for a lot of other customers, it is. But I guess you can speak for everyone that services their cars with Honda Cars of Mckinney, can't you? Don't be too quick to judge, and have a great day.:) |

1 Our entire dealership is based off of North Carolina, even the credit card machines that we use to bill customers and the computers that we use in this very office. I'm from Allen, TX and yes I do work at Honda Cars of McKinney. And why would I take so much time out of my life trying to debate with you about a dealership if I didn't actually work there, let alone live in the area? But maybe you're right. Maybe I just don't have any time on my hands, that I would take time out of my day just to start conflict with someone that doesn't like a certain dealership because of $.95. |

The story on mckinneylife.com is not written by the co-owner of that site. I am a member of that site and posted my issue there as well. I believe the co-owner you are referencing responded to my post. By the way, I am a man -- not a woman.

I stand corrected. Still the site is very interesting in that 98 percent of the posts are posted by the owners of the site David and Amanda. A great site representing McKinney for many years (The number of advertiser ads demonstates how popular the site is in representing McKinney)www.mckinneytx.com is heads above this site that so called.....represents McKinney, Texas. Its just a matter of time, it will be off the web. I doubt the actual readership goes much beyond a half dozen looks a day.

You are a dumb ass -- check your facts. You must be another Honda McKinney employee. Are you part of the custodial staff or just another cashier? |

1 Now I have never had to service my car there but I would not take anything less than "Thank you very much for your business" The cashier posting on the message board does not understand customer service and should just stick to taking money for services rendered..... If she worked for me in a customer service environment I'd fire her |
