Apr. 11--Nobody is claiming she was a model citizen. Deanna Willener loved the bars. She did some drugs. She had some run-ins with the law. She got around. Among her tattoos: "Love and Lust."

But none of that merited two gunshots to the back of the head.

And that's why her sister is pushing on with an 18-year quest to find her killer. An exercise in futility? Not at all. In fact, investigators have just uncovered some promising leads. The Akron woman disappeared in July 1989 at the age of 29. Several weeks later, her body was found by two fishermen along the banks of the Allegheny River in Olean, N.Y., just across the Pennsylvania line, about 3 1/2 hours from Akron. She was buried in Olean's Mount View Cemetery -- as Jane Doe.
Does anyone know if this was solved?

All I found about this is her body was exhumed 3-27-2007,nothing more.

I can only find info on the Akron police investigation, I cant seem to find where the Olean police investigated... any links or are you reading the other half of the same article.

There was a jane doe found out between vandalia allegany, I am not sure if this is the same one. I thought the other was on the nine mile also.

This would be outside the city of Olean, so it wouldn't be an OPD investigation, Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Dept. or N.Y.S.P.

Have YOU read the CARL VENO book ???

Some of the papers and files I saw conflict. Some say Olean, some different. So tell me KARLO what the department that should have done the investigation?
The book is good.

We need to keep these posts alive. Anyone have any more info on this, anything even minute could help, please post... if theirs any links etc.

Is there any reason she would have to travel to NYstate? Did she have family, friends etc there? This case as far as I can see is not losted with the state of NY or Cattaraugus county unsolved / cold case crimes. I also noticed it is not listed with Ohio. am i missing something?

If this was town of Allegany, It would be either the Cattaraugus Cnty. Sherriff's Dept. or NYSP

I was curious as to knowing if he had anything in his book about all the unsolved/missing crimes,etc. in the OLEAN and surrounding area.

It doesnt have them all, but it has some of them. Like the healthy people that drop dead frequently in the area, and the amount of skeletons found in the area.... however it is a good book, well... both are interesting. There is a lot of area History as well.

was she found like in the vicinity of the area where the safe from ski wing was found?

On Aug. 17, 1989, a body,

later identified as Willener,

was found by two fishermen

about 30 feet off South Nine

Mile Road in Allegany.

I am Deanna's sister. I am replying to your post July 7, 2009. I every so often check on posts regarding Deanna. As of this date, no arrests have been made, however the case is active and being handled by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department in NY where her body was found.
