We bought a Maltese from them in December 2005 and the service was great and the dog was healthy. I guess we were lucky.

This place has a horrible reputation and should be shut down immediately. I don't buy animals, all mine are rescues, but I've read lots of horror stories about the lives of the puppies at WOC. I hope this class action suit wipes them out.

All these stores, should be shut down. There are too many animals that are bought and then turned in to an animal shelter because it has lost its puppy cuteness. I am an animal lover I have owned up to 5 dogs 3 of them which are still with me today. It is just inhumane what we do to animnals. But what should we expect when we have no kindness for human life either.

Why oh why do people continue to buy from these places.

People are hung up with breed purity especially when it comes to pets.

Lawsuits like this one make it clear that breed purity is a fool's game.

Breed purity may mean that the animal was sired by a blood relative. Puppy mills don't give a damn about anyone. These animals are merchandise to them and that's all.

A few months ago, I went to ANIMAL CONTROL and bought a stray. A small, 9 pound dog that's a mix.

When I saw him, he wasn't socialized. Animal control has a guarantee on their pets so I had every expectation of returning him.

Who would have guessed what a great dog he is? And completely trained. How lucky is that?

Is he a 'pure bred'? Nope. What is the real value in that anyway? So strangers can look at the dog with envy?

What c r a p!

My dog was treated for fleas, worms, was neutered and got a free vet check from Animal Control.

When I got home, I took him to my vet and had the chip installed.

I am SO glad that you are writing about Wizard of Claws! People need to be educated about buying animals from any pet store - ANY PET STORE! These animals are not purchased from friendly little families who give them love and affection - they're purchased from puppymills and this whole practice needs to be stopped!

Get your animal from a rescue group or the pound. Save a life!!!!

I'm amazed how many people still think pet stores buy from "reputable breeders." Often that "breeder" is in Missouri well known for puppy mills.
I understand people want a purebred dog sometimes. I have a German Shepherd Dog. I bought him from a breeder I checked out thoroughly.

Firsty, I would never purchase a dog or cat in a store. There are so many animals for adoption, that need homes.
The owners of the pet store deserve to go to prison, and get a big fine for abusine these animals.

With millions of animals euthanized in shelters every year why would anyone buy from a pet store....Shelter animals make better pets and you are saving a life....

I had three Bassett Hounds and I got each one from the same breeder. They did not have a single thing wrong with them and anyone with half a brain knows that places like this get their animals from these puppy mills. You get dupped and it is your fault. Save your money and go to the Humane Society. If I could have gotten a Bassett from them I would have but they had none.

There needs to be a law passed against selling animals in stores, period.
Being kept in a kennel isnt good for any of them. Buyers need to make the effort themselves to find private breeders, that way you can view how the creature was raised and decide if the practices of the breeder are up to standards.

Do not buy puppies from pet stores, even those that seem to sell healthy animals. Visit the Human Society on Griffin Road or Broward Animal Control adjacent to the Ft Laud Airport. There you will find hundreds of animals worthy of adoption. My dog escaped my yard and was brought to Animal Control. I found her just hours before she was to be put to death. Do not patronize pet stores when hundreds of animals are available at these shelters.

A Federal Class action suit will absolutely bankrupt the pet store whether the Humane Society wins or not.
Of course they deserve to win but this kind of litagation will drain that store dry in no time. Once someone class action sues you and you have to defend it, your own LEGAL DEFENSE will be the death of you financailly.ADIOUS TO THE PET STORE!!!!!!!

Thirteen years ago I purchased a Sheltie puppy from Puppy Palace. She was sick from the first day I brought her home. This was way back before there was any news on puppy mills. I have learned a lot since that time. Puppy Palace has also been sued. She had so many genetic problems. Thanks to constant nuturing, expensive Vet bills over the years she made it to 12 3/4yrs, we had to put her down this past April. I have a folder the size of a phone book with all the bills from the beginning. ONe of these days I'll add them up. I'm sure we could have purchased not one but maybe 2 vehicles with what we've spent. We just adopted a Sheltie from a reputable breeder and what a difference! He's 3 years old. We have a sound, healthy, mild-mannered dog. No more pet stores, ever!

I do not patronize pet stores that sell dogs because I do not agree with this practice. There are so many pets available for adoption in the Humane Society and Animal Control. You can find a wide choice of dogs to pick: large, small, short or long hair, brown, black, white, sometimes purebreed can be found in these places. If you insist on having a particular breed, I understand that you can be on a waiting list. Most adopted dogs make the best pets because somehow they are grateful of having a home. I hope this WOC people get out of business forever, they do not have ethics whatsoever.

These, and other, greedy slobs need some serious prison time to see how it feels to be mistreated and abused. Hopefully the class action case will bankrupt those worthless scumbags and send a message to all other abusers.
