I agree, but did you feel this way when they discrimminated against blacks regarding college admission and denial with superior grades to many non blacks? Did you stand up with the same fury? If not, then shut up now.

I am an alumnus of Cornell, Harvard and Columbia. I am absolutely in favor of a fully diverse student body, with special regard for those from disadvantaged backgrounds irrespective of color or national origin. That is all these schools are trying to accomplish, and they should be appreciated for the effort that results in a better America.

Do universities still use affirmative action? I thought that was long gone...

Okay, I am a Black Man adopted at a very young age by my White Jewish Parents. I have a White Brother who is their natural child 3 months my junior. My Brother was excited to go to college and went from high school right to Cornell. I had exceedingly high grades and scored quite high on the SATs but had no desire to continue after high school. My Dad sat me down and threatened my very existence! I got the message but it was too late to think of applying to a college like Cornell so I spent my first year at SUNY Albany. I transferred to Cornell my second year. The point that I am trying to make is it is up to the family to push most kids to continue in school. Without a family structure I probably would not have finished High School let alone gone to college. I did not get in thorough affirmative action as my grades were always higher then my Bro's who got right into Cornell. If you stop to read the article for meaning it even states that the grades of the recently immigrated Blacks are on par with all of the other students. How can we say that affirmative action had anything to do with their admittance? They had the grades and the money to attend.

We have been approached but way too much exposure for anyone in the family to ever want that kind of publicity. We are all comfortable without it.

but i am working on getting good grades ..and have joined extracurriculars, working on community service too..
advice plz
am i able to get into an ivy league school if i have messed up one year in high school?

Yes, yes, yes, yes. And in case you didn't hear me the first time, yes. Keep up the grades and really do well in the SATs. Ivy League conducts interviews just for this reason. Get some coaching on interview techniques; talk with your guidance counselor! And make sure that your essay explains what transpired to get you the bad grades and how you improved and you can do it!

I was sooooo close to dropping out in High School yet after a year of college was able to transfer to an Ivy League school!

People like Javeste Dulcio are retarded pieces of trash that get into decent colleges simply on virtue of being black.

Their joke should read "Jokes on us. We have no true intelligence. We're only here because we are black."
