Intelligence agencies intercepted communications last year and this year between the military psychiatrist accused of shooting to death 13 people at Fort Hood, Tex., and a radical cleric in Yemen known for his incendiary anti-American teachings.
But the federal authorities dropped an inquiry into the matter after deciding that the messages from the psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, did not suggest any threat of violence and concluding that no further action was warranted, government officials said Monday.Major Hasan’s 10 to 20 messages to Anwar al-Awlaki, once a spiritual leader at a mosque in suburban Virginia where Major Hasan worshiped, indicate that the troubled military psychiatrist came to the attention of the authorities long before last Thursday’s shooting rampage at Fort Hood, but that the authorities left him in his post.

I just saw on the news that many people "knew"....many people reported things, and they still ignored it. He was apparently on a "watch list...big freakin" deal.......now look at what happened....all because no one wanted to single out a Muslim.....it's a disgrace.....he's already "lawyerd up"...with military lawyers....I would hate to be them......

Oh no doubt he's lawyered up..it's the American way! But you know one thing mary? One little, bright and hopeful thing? I'm GLAD he didn't die. Coward that he is, I'm GLAD he has to face the music and face a trial. He was denied his 72 virgins and a place in Islamic history. And for that and that ALONE...I am grateful.
Let's just hope the Army isn't so PC that they throw out the Death Penalty as an option...you know?

We the people of this country have been ignored for decades...the government chooses to ignore many things...they knew about Bin Laden many years before 9/11 and didn't take him and his thugs out of commission. The are ignoring that nut in Iran too, until he wipes some country off the map. It's always....too little too late with those in power.

They need to crack down on all those radical-inciting Imans too.....many of them are on watch lists, also, but nothing is ever done about them.....
