Officials ask for background checks of permit expediters

I have an even better idea. My idea is that the building inspectors and expeditiors, etc, be assigned to various districts and with each district headed by an alderman.

So therefore anyone who needs a building permit will first submit his application to the alderman's office, and then the alderman's office will assign the application to one of the expediters and one of the building inspectors assigned to his office. Then if it later can be proven that a bribe was paid to an alderman, the applicant will receive just one day in jail.

However if it can be proven that the applicant paid most or all of any bribe money to the expediter and/or the building inspector and with the alderman getting little or none of the bribe money, then the applicant will receive a liftetime prison sentence.

In fact, the program I have just described the aldermen would probably name the "REFORM AND CLEAN GOVERNMENT ACT."

Which Alderman's brother is conducting the background checks? In the realm of Daley; nothing is to be had without money.

You want a permit for anything commercial, you pay an Alderman, one way or another. It's as corrupt as it has ever been.

But, hey, the suckers... I mean, the voters... like it! They reward the same gang every election.

Translation: the Aldermen need a bigger cut.

This is really funny the aldermen pretending that they want honesty and integrity in government. For instance, just think back to the Shakman decrees of thirty some years ago in which the big boys in Chicago city govt agreed that in the future that all sorts of decisions which had previously been made on the basis of political influence and backroom deals would henceforth be made honestly and only on the basis of merit.

However of course, and not surprisingly, the big boys in Chicago city govt have continued to intentionally ignore, laugh at, and spit on the Shakman decrees and while pretending they are following them.

So this latest thing the aldermen are proposing concerning their supposed interest in having honest expediters, honest building inspectors, and honest permits and building inspections is obviously just another phony "reform" the aldermen have come up with to fool the gullible.

In fact, ten or twenty years from now people will probably look back and realize that this "reform" the aldermen are now pushing thru so as to make the permit process supposedly more "honest" somehow actually resulted in more money flowing to the aldermen.

This is a great quote. Instead of expeditors, I say it applies to Aldermen and Cook County.
