That thing didn't wake me up gently... I screamed, it was quite a jolt, and you just never know when the big one is going to happen.

By the way, Grace, the city shown with a writer's comments never is the correct one.
My daughter lives in Del Mar and felt it, so much for distance from the epicenter that is was felt.

5.0? What? it felt like a 11.3.(exaggerated of course) but definitely thought it was a lot higher than what it was recorded

Haha Grace, I fell victim to the wrong city too. At least yours in the same general area. I live in Lomita not San Fran.

It started out as a light roll...with just enough time to think it's an earthquake, then a few good jolts to remind you that we live in earthquake country! A good reminder that we have to be prepared and give thanks for our loved ones.

I thought the same thing, Junior. I felt sure it was at least a 7.0. It felt more like an explosion than a quake.

Lots of shake at the Hummus House Restaurant in Hawthorne. Strong Building. No broken china. Just little bit scary. Customers calmed down and continued meals. The phone stopped working for 10 minutes and then came back on line.
