because the two year contract was over and instead of all of california 911 calls being handled by one OPI company; each911 call center became independently managed and each can use the OPI Co. that they want. When I spoke to them, they already new the problems that interpreters were having with Omni.(back in the month of October of 2007) They have been aware of it for a while. Never the less each center ( city-county)operates individually now. Today some are using Language Line and some others are using other companies. Omni had a two year contract it ended April 20, 2008.
As you can see they new about the problem but continued with OMNI until the contract expired. It must be very hard to proove who intereprets you call; today a days with phone technology you can have an 818 area code phone number and answer your calls while crossing "la cordillera de los Andes".:) which i hope you get to do!!! Miguel E. doesn’t work for network omni no more, he quit about 3/4 months ago. But I know his wife still works there. Now there’s a supervisor name Miguel Sierra currently working there. He is also a Kiss ass Just Like Miguel E. |

Well, what really happened was Omni won the CA 911 contract again for 2008-09. Language Line had their attorneys file a motion to overturn the award of the contract with the State of California. Then Language Line attorneys contacted previous Omni 911 call center manager and they put together a document that was sent to State of CA and then the contract was taken away from them and now the individual 911 centers are now responsible for procuring own OPI services. Language Line and the previous Omni 911 manager made sure they lost CA 911 contracts. They treated the old 911 manager very badly when he discovered what they were doing to interpreters and how the phone system was not working and 911 calls were being lost and disconnected! He tried to make them change things and Manny M. fired him. Once again by not doing business the right way they treated people badly and lost millions of $$$ as a result. |

What a mess!!
It is really a sad thing! If you come to think of it, how many people have been victimized by Omni's behavior? Not only the interpreters, but well meaning personnel working in-house and customers and clients! It appears that this Manny M. is the main culprit. I'd like to have a conversation with him! It looks like he took advantage of the opportunity when Ulmer got sick, and perhaps too sick to be able to deal with any day-to-day business. Some people are like vultures! I'd still like to receive copies of corporate returns, please send them to my e-mail address. |

I'm just thinking out loud: Is there anyone who has filed in small claims court in California who would be interested in filing a claim for some of the rest of us for a fixed price, say $50 per invoice? What would be the filing fees? Could the appearance be handled through this same person appearing and handing in an affidavit? If anyone is willing speak up.

I've just got back from Ventura County Court today. Maria knows about it. Due to abundance of MOLES on this forum I like to keep it confidential. I will keep you ALL posted with additional info.
I also asked for filing on everyones behalf. I was told that each contractor has to file on their own behalf. Sorry, I tried. The legal advise also told me since we are not employee's the labor department can not do anything about it. But I was told that each of you need to contact an attorney (free legal advise is available, as well) in your state to find out what needs to be done. I am only a few street away from NetworkOmni. But my hands are tied up too. I was hoping that this can be done professionally and patiently. I guess not. |

Anyone from Canada? We need to talk if you are. Omni does not pay me, not reply my email at all while still call me once in a while asking if I can take calls. So ridiculous!!
Omni owes me only a little monty but I don't want to swallow the fact that Omni treats independent contractors/interpreters like shit. If they continue to treat me like this in the next two weeks, I am sure I will open fire to them - the revenge begins - the idea is to make Omni out of the business. They have my word. |

I worked for George Ulmer years back. I know his son and his wife and I do feel simpathy, because it's the family who is left to clean up and deal with whatever he left behind. I worked with him almost 10 years ago when he was once in debt with contractors. I'm proud to say I cleaned up the mess and had EVERYONE paid on time. He was very concerned about making sure everyone was paid and he followed through on his promise. I don't doubt that he fell into debt again, because he wasn't there 100% to ensure it. Hope you don't find yourself with a terminal disease and have to leave your assets in the hands of imcompetant people.
