I wonder how Language Line feels about Network Omni's slime being attached to it?

Per Sami's comments, true, they are cold blooded corporate that only see benefits, not human services for interpreters. They simply dislike interpreters, their only product. Can you imagine that? I have notices with many agencies, that the staff members are not as friendly, not as diversified and not knowing much of other languages to make them qualified for a linguistic company. They are running a business and think profit more than human ethics. The ethics they fee interpreters is just for them to avoid any lawsuits. What do you think? Lete make a time next weel to meet in person! Victims of Omni unity meeting.

If you do manage to stage a small demonstration outside the NO corporate office, let the local media know.

Keep in mind that Gabriel once wrote that he'd take part in such an event if he could get away from work.

Great!!

We really need to create some media attention for this case. I have been trying hard to get someone's attention. So far, no one has called me back!:-(( I guess we are realizing now that our case is not something new, and things like that goes on all the time, and nothing new to media!

Amazing!

I was out of town for a week. Guess what folks? When I got home, there was a recorded conversation in my answering machine between the client and NO operator. The client asked to speak to the supervisor why she couldn't get an interpretor and that she has tried to call many times throughout the day and she couldn't get an intperepter she needed. The operator told her that there's no one available but he would like to connect the client to the next available interpreter if the client would like to hold. All this conversation was in my answering machine. I was in disbelief how a big company like NO couldn't find an interpreter for the client throughout the whole day. Well folks, I do believe many TIs are no longer having interest to accept calls from NO since neither one of us got pay. I'm glad that this particular client showed how frustrated and disatisfied she was with the company, big time!

I have stopped taking calls for July and I couldn't believe how NO still have the courage to call my phone 2 am, 5 am, 10 pm etc, etc. Network Omni has no shame, no grace, save face, no dignity, no integrity, and shows no professionalism whatsoever. When you asked about when the company will pay you, their respond is like a death sentence--something like "...at this time, we do not know when your next payment will be...." What kind of a reply is that? They think they can play cat and mouse with us for the rest of our lives or what?

Which language do you interpret?

I am still taking calls, but upon my covenience.
Today one of the Hertz customer said he waited for almost 40 minutes to get to me. However I was availabl during these 40 minutes. I wonder if NO operator is short numbered too.

I want to know if somebody get paid recently. I am waiting for March, April, May, June.
I keep sending e-mails, but only receive the responces that they are short for cashflow. I used to work for another on-line interpreting company, which eventually merged with bigger comany. They paid every month in full until the last moment, and notified us closing the contract.
It is just unbelievable that the company like NO exists in USA. Do we have any chanse to be paid?

Network Omni had a nerve to call me all night long when I was not logged in and when I told them I do not take calls until I get paid for last 6 months of no pay. Then they call me and let me know that me not taking calls is hurting their clients! Can anyone in a sane mind believe what are they doing? They were semi upset with me that me not taking calls is hurting them and had no empathy about my life up in the air with no income for 6 months. Jayson this time has not emailed me back with pre-composed answers and rather no email at all to all my calls and emails last week. Where is justice? Where is law to back us up? It is too bad that we do not have our own interpreting company so we can call all these clients and work direct with them.

Fell for Omni trap, if they say it hurts their clients again, you can tell them it also hurts me financially. I don't live on free food and rent etc. It is a TWO-WAY need--for services and be paid.

Very true. Amen. That is right, they think they save dimes and quarters, but they lose hundreds. They failed to think about all the hidden cost when they tried to save dimes and quarters from you.
Sami wrote:
The sad thing is that Network Omni and some other companies are willing to pay an extra amount of money to other companies under "strategic alliance" to cover the calls and not pay even less money directly to those interpreters that are dedicated to them. Surely, NetworkOmni will pay on time to LL for those calls but sadly not to direct Omni's interpreters....Shame on Network Omni...
This strategic alliance would be just to allow Omni to use LL's interpreters to take calls that NO can not cover due to many interpreters leaving Omni as a result of non-payment, delays in payments and worst of all lack of communication.
A few companies try to drain the life of interpreters by using and abusing them. When the interpreter says "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" the company goes through a "Vendor company" to get interpreters, but it cost them more than what they paid to their direct interpreters. It's happening to me when one company did not want to pay a certain rate, but I am taking their calls through their vendors for that same rate, guess what they pay to the vendor? You got that right....Companies just try to put you down and lower you rate as much as possible when you commit and dedicate yourself to them.... In this industry, unfortunately loyalty is a ground for punishment, when you are working for multiple companies, they all seem to be competing for you, especially if you are good at what you're doing and possess rare skills....

I did tell them the same thing, but sadly they are like humanoids and just repeat what is being told them to say and can not think on their own.

Really? Did you ever speak to anyone when you called? What did you say in your e-mails? Any insight would still be appreciated, I'm still waiting to get anything this month; looks like it's going to be a $0 paycheck month
I called the # we all call to log in and press the "talk to an OMNI supervisor" button, from there ask to be transferred to the invoicing dept.(yolanda,Jayson). I never got a chance to speak to any of them but I always did leave a message. My e-mails were basically the same story: no payment,so many months, broke etc.

I got two calls from Omni today which I refused to take them. I think after we stop taking calls for so long, they get tired to send us calls again since it won't do any good anyway.

Fell for Omni trap, you can apply for Cyracom and Lionbridge. Good luck.

Latest news from Omni.

I got a call from Tina C.(Omni's management analyst) today and she wanted to deactivate my ID #. I told her that's fine with me. I can't continue to work w/o getting paid. I don't live on free food and rent etc. I have refused taking calls for almost a month now anyway. When I asked her when Omni will pay interpreters, she replied she does not know because she is not working at the accounting department. I asked her pointedly again that can you guess how long will interpreters get our payments for the months of May, June etc. she said she does not know. I asked her again if it will take another year, 1 month, 6 more months to pay us, and she replied it may not be another year but it may be 6 more months or less. But her guess about payment is not going to be any time soon. Can you believe how heartless Network Omni is. I told her that it is Omni's way of mismanagement, embellishment and that's how we never get paid for a very long time for each invoice submitted and it has happened again and again. Omni treats its contract interpreters without any dignity or any consideration and shows no trustworthy whatsoever.

For those who are still taking calls from Omni, you may want to think twice before you pick up your phone accepting calls.

From the info above, there's not going to be any much luck for us to get our payment any time soon. I'm sorry to update you with a depressing news but at least you know what is happening with Omni as of today regarding the money it owes us.

Tina said exact same things to me last month. Yes, it is amazing how rootless they are, how loyal they are to Omni. They must be not human beings if they act like this. They are amazing, how they survive mentally sane if they go to work each day knowing they are working for one hearless, rootless, unethical and unAmerican company? Just wondering!! Is there anyone out there who is still taking calls thinking Omni is not going to screw them over because they stayed loyal? Please let us know! The more you take calls, they more it burns when you don't get paid.
