"Jeffrey Schultes of Portland, Maine"

I wonder IF there were any qualified candidates in Connecticut...especially since jobs are very scant here.

I am so glad that, after a search of about one year, we were able to find someone with experience with a major international airport (not), who has dealt with the complexity of something like Connecticut's DOT (not) and who has had a very visible role in the industry (not).

This poor schmuck has no idea of what kind of disfunctional state government he is becoming part of. Give him six months to bail out a long with the new person at the head of DOT.

Not quite right.

Portland International Airport (PDX) is in Portland, Oregon.

Portland International Jetport (PWM) is in Portland, Maine.

Obviously, going from PDX to BDL would be a demotion; however, just like PDX, BDL has flights to Amsterdam.

Did this man go to Merrimack College with Lisa Moody as did Mr. Marie, the new DOT Commissioner?

So one direct international flight makes it an "International airport."

"Smoke and mirror" public relations. Taxis are over-priced and about as dependable as the weather.

Come on GrayPlayer. That is a softball question. BDL has one "European" flight. But check your atlas. Canada and Mexico are different nations. Hence, "International".

You got it. Another example of Ct's REAL governor in action.

I am so proud of Lisa Moody, a kind and gentle spirit, if ever there was one. Move over, Mother Teresa.

What do you want to bet the (lovefest) nomination committee asks some hard hitting probing questions just like they did of commissioner elect Marie?

Thanks for the revelation-that's what this forum should be about. I hope our legislators are reading it! More cronyism exposed. Do they have.like 6 planes a day in Maine,5 cropdusters & a potato freight?

Actually, PWM serves more than a million and a half passengers a year and is the fastest-growing airport in all of New England (that includes Logan and Bradley), and Portland's politics are about as challenging as anyone's to navigate--Schultes' biggest challenge will be dealing with dopes like you who continue to cling to arrogant, ignorant stereotype about Maine. Believe it or not there IS intelligent life and activity north of New York City...though maybe not in Hartford from what I can tell.

I believe a few of the many passengers of PWM became famous.(OOPS I meant Infamous.) That is where the security was so good that the 9/11 hijackers walked right through and onto the plane to Boston.

I came on On A late flight from Mexico to Dallas, Dallas to Hartford on American, I was literally stranded, no one to give me change for a "one pay phone that does not take debit cards", My limo did not show, confusion on pick up. I finally found one Jamaican very nice Janitor who helped me, No one, literally no one there, they shut down and all went home and walked out on me. I saw on Murphy Rent a cop, young kid, all doors to Terminal wide open for any one or group to go in and have a field day. If this were some small one strip airport, understandable, but this is a "disgrace", I am a Director of Security, and local executive managing a large asset in Hartford. No personnel there over night, no more State Police, just a mess.
Arriving in from a professional airport like Dallas Fort Worth, made the first impression even worse, if it was my mother stranded there or someone else who could not take care of him or herself, could of been terrible, they all go home and close up on a Thurs. night as soon as they hear last flight in , and leave all main doors Open. How about a change machine, adding more debit card phones, need fifty cents, no one there, no one... This is not an International Airport, the attitude of employees is also terrible, they look like they hate working there, appear unhappy, no smiles, no friendly welcome, disgusting. At least some were there when I flew out at 4:AM leaving on the 22nd. Plan to send letter to Courant, AND GOVERNOR, someone has to be accountable for this type thing. The one kid I saw from Murphy looked new, young inexperienced, and had too much to cover, secure the doors if your leaving the Facility empty...think of stranded incoming passengers... The janitor saved me... Taxi dispatcher took off, and everyone bailed...
This is State Capital, and the Train Station in Hartford, is a story all it's own, Ct. must wake up, or more will leave this expensive over taxed State...

No Terminal may be left unattended, add debit card phones, change machine, vending, cover lapse of time , and you cannot leave the doors open all night. If there are no more flights, and your employees all go home, you need coverage in the Terminal from 12 to when the first Flight leaves... I see they have hired a new Administrator, and they need a Security Director...

I would be interested in the Security Director Position, having been one in the City for 14 years along with managing a large asset in the city... I see many things that can be changed without spening a great deal of money...

Well maybe next time you with either bring a cell phone or some change. You should always be prepared when you travel. Your lack of planning is not the fault of the airport, sorry!
