DCF allowed WMS Principal to hurt my child

The Westbrook, Ct Middle school Principal has made false reports to the Department of Children and Families to delibertly hurt my child and I

How did the Principal hurt your child?
He is supposed to be doing good things for your child.

Mrs. _______, your child is a horror.... honestly, Westbrook has never experienced such a distracted, misbehaving child. We can only imagine the home environment that affected this child. Awful. And it's not just me, other teachers will tell you the same thing. DCF notification was not only the right thing to do, it is required under the law.

Labeling and namecalling on a public forum?
This child may need academic and psychological/social support, but you are merely a teacher...and very biased, as evidenced by your posting and further damaging a child in the public eye.

Why are you playing this out in a public forum? It is the right of the parent to seek help outside of the realm of "the system" of which you are a part as a teacher.

It is the responsibility of a teacher to advocate for his school system. Although this should not be argued via a "Blog", it is depressing to read false accusations sbout ones school or administrator. Only those who were part of this situation truly know what happened on a day to day basis. Perhaps emotions take over when one reads such an unfair and malicious comment on the internet. This woman needs to stop the harassment and allow the rumors to cease.

Without our knowing the particulars, the parent obviously feels harmed and is speaking on behalf of her child. I have never known teachers to openly express their negative opinions and labeling about a child.
If anyone can identify this child or this family, these teachers should be held accountable for causing harm.
The parent has his/her right to complain about a public school system....the salaried teachers do not have the right to breach the privacy of a student.

Although I also am not aware of the specifics in this case, it is obviously disturbing to many of the teachers that an angry and possibly disturbed parent who clearly has a vendetta against a school system could write slanderous comments on a website for anyone to read. If you noticed, it looked as though that was a REAL news headline! How terrible for the employees, parents and students of that town. The best thing for everyone involved would be to stop responding to this because any person that tries to get others to jump on a bandwagon and attempt to gain support by writing a phony news headline must be a bit odd. Myself included! Furthermore, the person writing the original headline must want to be known or she would not have signed her name and left her email address, right? It is also obvious that the teachers who did respond cared about the child or they would not have taken the steps necessary to get the child help from DCF. Being a teacher myself, I am very aware as to the extent of time, energy, and emotional toll that it takes on teachers involved in such a difficult process. I believe that you should try to look at this from another perspective and not simply feed a fire by continuing to reply. I just hope that this child is doing well!

If you are a teacher in Westbrook or maybe the Principal, you should be ashamed of yourself. This child had a great home life and a devoted mother and family. Because the Principal ignored what the child really needed, which the mother expressed to him 2 years ago, and she tried to rationalize with the Mr. House, he became irrational to her request. The Principal could not handle that he was dealing with a genius and the school does not accommadate gifted and talented children but moves to badger them. You look like you are a psycho witch that truly hates her job and must scream, yelland badger the children just like the Principal does. It will catch up with him. DCF was notified with false information and it will be dedalt with legally.

If you are a teacher, you must be a psycho witch,then you know the Principal and you must have seen him yelling at the children and berating them. Well you don't know the child because he is a sweet intelligent child,and you need to have psycho eval if you think otherwise. You should look at yourself in the mirror when you talk about a child who has a superior IQ next to his peers and you could not understand him. THe reports to the DCF were all false and in retaliation because a letter was written to the BOE. GET SOME HELP FOR YOURSELF.

You are so right. Thankyou.
My child was harmed mentally by this emotionally
unbalanced school system. They truly have tried to label this child and the fact is that he has a
superior IQ over his peers and he is different and a good child. The teachers needs to go to a session to learn how to listen to Talented and Gifted Children. They need to be dealt with by the authorities and penalized for their bad behavior. The new superintendent fits right in with her emotional problem.

My first impression from your expanded comments is that his yelling and screaming come from a place of weakness and the inability to manage the situation. As a parent, you have every right to be heard, and if not at the school, you may take your concerns elsewhere.
I am a former social worker with our state system; please note former, by choice. The fact that you feel betrayed and unheard by the school system, and that is further evidenced by the vicious postings here from TEACHERS! tells me the system has shut down to this child. You are seeking advocacy elsewhere, and it is your right to do so.
For those teachers who so easily label and discard bothersome students with complex social and psychological issues, I can tell you that your negative imprint is powerful and will remain with a child the rest of his/her life.

The child needed to be accommodated without the backlash from the principal and teachers.

Labeling, as evident on this forum, with cruel rather than constructive intent is especially unacceptable; and the child should never have been exposed to the teachers' frustration in the school environment, and now the unprofessional demeanor that is carrying over into the community.

Again, the mother has the right to present her concerns publicly. Teachers should be bound by the processes of their school administration....which obviously condones vicious attacks to parents and children.

well this is what I'm talking about. The school system harmed my child by ignoring my request for
a different class schedule for my child 2 years ago (in the first semester)and they gave him classes he did not need and basically irritated his life with it. I told the Principal it would not work and he ignored me and I was right, the sequence of these classes made my child not like school and hurt him educationally(he had no fun classes,like music, art,computer)and this was how they neglected the child. They also hurt him emotionally by screaming, yelling, berating and treating him like he had a learning disability, and a mental disorder. He was evaluated and I found out that ultimately he has a superior IQ next to his peers and he is a gifted child. The
Principal at WMS badgered and harassed my innocent child and then slandered him with ugly stupid, bad rumors. So if you are a Westbrook,CT. parent and your child has been harmed by the school system in any way that you are aware of, I would consider asking your child at any time if they have been harassed, badgered, mentally and emotionally hurt, educationally neglected, etc. by anyone at any of the schools, especially, The Middle School Principal, Mr. Phillip House, I would like to HEAR YOUR STORY, please send letters to: P.O. I'm the MOM from Westbrook and an advocate
The child is not doing well because of the badgering from the teachers as you see here. They reported defamational things to the DCF and started a mean streak for him. He is a child who was tested and has a superior IQ next his peers and is loved by many, except for the malicious ones at the school.
