You're not considering what the law was created to address in the first place.

The law's purpose is to protect children from perverts and exploiters who profit off of or contribute to the illegal child porn industry.

These girls are not child molesters.

I don't think it should be legal for minors to post pictures of themselves, but the nature of the act is different. It makes sense to send an adult who takes sexual pictures of children to jail for a very long time(in my opinion it should be life) and to register the pervert.

How does it benefit anybody to sentence these girls to long sentences and force them onto a sex offender registry?

We need a new law. When minors do this it should be considered ordinary "juvenile delinquency" punishable with probation and a fine and of course destruction of the pictures. These girls are just ordinary, misbehaving teenagers not a menace to society.

If they are at the age of puperty and adolescent,that is not wrong,if exceeding 18 is illegal.

It all depends on the intent of the law as to whether the 16 year old can be prosecuted. The 19 year old very likely is in violation for assisting the 16 year old in publishing the pictures. I would say that the intent of the law she is charged with violating was not intended to apply to her particular case and that it represents a prosecutorial overreach.

My legal take on this should not be confused with my moral take on this. What the girls did was morally reprehensible, regardless of what their respective ages were.

If they are that nasty now I can imagine the problems they will have in a couple of years.
