8 fire engines?!?! I understand "better safe than sorry" but when does it become too much? Are these guys just foaming at the mouth to "roll out"? How much does it cost each department to respond to a call? How many fire fighters get paid overtime for this practice of excessiveness?

all the fire dept that were on that fire are either volunteers (yolo and Willow Oak) or they are paid dept that were on duty... Woodland, Davis, U.C Davis, West Sac, Dixon, Casino are all paid dept. When you go to a big city, they have many alarms where they are getting way more than we will ever need. I would have to say that if it was my house on fire I would want more help then no help

LOL As a fireman i think it is pretty funny tha 8 daggon engines showed up. UCD and Willow Oak and West sac didnt have to be there, and yes its pretty expensive to deploy that many engines. Again why i didnt take a job with WFD. I guess they dont like to work that hard. All though I can understand moving Resources over to cover stations why other engines are on a call. There is no exuse for 5 or 6 white helmets on a scene. usually 2 chiefs, a couple captains and 6 to 8 firefighters is usually enough to be efficient. especially with the pics i saw. Those fires were NOT that crazy. WFD puts a whole new shine on the word OVERKILL. STATE AND POINT, We had a structure fire about 3 or 4 weeks ago, half the house went up. We put the damn thing out with one engine, one squad vehicle AND 9 GUYS. 9 of us and a fire hydrant, thats all we needed. it took us some time to call it good but really, like i said, 8 engines including 3 or 4 of them that drove a half hour to get there, OVERKILL WFD. Proof is in the puddin.

I work for the forest service on the Mt. Hough Ranger District, and yes volunteer during the winter time. And no, the only fires I light is my burn pile in my yard. My captain gets to light shit off when it needs to be, as it is necessary to combat wildfires....sometimes. as far as you're concerned, go back to school and GET A CAREER! Oh wait you are to darn ignorant to realize its YOUR tax money that gets wasted. Besides do you even know anything about how ICS works? If you had a good point you would say it, but i dont think you do so you just insult people right?

last time i checked the forest circus talks the fire out and doesn't really do much work with it.. and about going to school? I have my AA in fire tech as well as a BA in fire management... So lets talk about your schooling?
And when there is a fire with your departments... you guys send the world to them...
