File all of the charges and give him concurrent sentences. Maybe that will teach people it is NOT ok to drink and drive!!!! I guess a lawmaker's or judge's family member will have to be killed in a DUI accident before anything is done. Quit slapping wrists and punish these people. Hopefully this will be the last person who sacrifices their life for these lackluster dui laws!!!!

Gun owners kill more people every year than drunk drivers. When are they going to crack down on gun owners?

He's not a bad person. He just made a really big mistake.I know that there's nothing he can do to bring back the young life that he took, but it's not right for everyone to want the courts to use him as an example.I mean think about if it was someone in your family, would you want them to be used as an example.Matt deserves a fair trial just like everyone else.He is going to get time, that's without a doubt, but I know him personally and I know his personality. He's not a bad person. He's a wonderful husband for his wife, and an outstanding father to his children. He's not the type of person that would go out and just kill someone,or as many people like to label him,he's NOT A MURDERER.Drinking is something that everyone does from time to time. And everyone takes it a little too far sometimes. This time that it happened a young boy's life just happened to be taken.I understand that what he did could definately have been avoided, but then again "everything happens for a reason".

A wonderful husband and a great dad would never put his family in this situation!!!! Taking something a little too far does not consist of killing a person. That is an extreme!!!!!

Bravo Uniform Lima Lima Sierra Hotel India Tango According to the DOJ, 14990 gun related murders in the US in 2006. Same year 16005 alcohol related auto fatalities. Then you have all of the other alcohol related deaths every year (suicides, health related, other accidental deaths, etc.)

How many DUI's has he had? Can't he learn? He has had chances. He needs to stay behind bars for a very long time. My heart goes out to his family as they are also victims. I can't imagine if it were someone that I loved that made this terrible mistake not once but multiple times and lets be clear he HAS driven under the influence more than what he's been caught, but if it were my son or daughter I'd want them in jail too... if for no other reason than for their own safety. The problem is that he keeps making the same mistake over and over, not to mention the numerous times he drove home plastered and did not get arrested. He got fair trials all the other times before this.

His time is coming!! No more DUI's. at least for awhile for Mr. Burch. Virginia should have the 3 strike laws like California so he would spend the rest of his life in jail. I hope they bring back the additional charges against him and that add's more time since time is what he needs. See ya...

Of course you feel that way you know him, A good father HA, he killed somebodys son. How many times as he drove drunk with his kids in the car, if he was such an outstanding person then why leave the car. He deserves to go to jail for a VERY long time and spend EVERY holiday and birthday of his kids in jail, the young man he KILLED will never get to spend holidays with his loved ones again. There is NO NO excuse for drunk driving, that and he had pot with him, OH yeah great dad there. He was not thinking of his family when he chose to drive.. BOO HOO he is going to jail that just means one less drunk on the street. I will admit my ex hubby got busted for drinking and driving and I told the cops to lock him up. I filed for divorce a few months later, thats how much I hate drunk drivers.

You're right..he put alcohol, drugs and who knows what ahead of his family and now that he is in jail all we hear is "It was a mistake", "He is a good man"..too bad so sad!!! Should have wised up before it came to this. Now that this is where it is..there will be no sympathy from me and many others.
