Well don't depend on the northern commissioner he's on re election tour. He's been misusing his authority too much especially with the investment board crew he's over.

wouldn't make a difference dry or wet Northern and southern Howell county needs better county workers. Go by the northside shed. They'll be sitting there till 9 to 10 am. Don't they work 4 ten hour days? Which means they get there at 6 or 7 am. Lazy bunch of guys sitting and doing nothing on our dime and Lovelace could care less cause he gets his $30,000 plus a year to do jack! County even buys his fuel for personal vehicle

I agree - County Commissioner's in general are way overpaid. They work about one day(more like 1/2 day) each week -- if that.

Most of them are retired with a good income just from retirement.

Let's figure (conservatively)
Social Security $30 includes Medicare
Retirement $30
Commission Wages$30 + benefits?

Humm-m-m-m-m,$90K + benefits in West Plains, not too bad. Commissioners get paid more that the average wage earner who works a 40hr week in this area.

"What's wrong with this picture?"

Yep an neither does Lovelace. We've only had commissioners that know nothing about brush cutting, road grading, culvert needs or equipment. Last good commissioner we've had was. Lonnie Thornton he was smart and gave a damn

I see you're an expert on keeping up dirt road! NOT!!!!!!!! You cant do anything with dust and why would you want to put a 175 dollar dry load of gravel on a dry dirt road that would be so washed boarded in a day you couldnt hardly drive over it. Dont sound to smart to me. I ran a grader for years so i do know a couple of things about it. Now ill give you the county workers dont kill themselves but when it storms they work, when it floods they work, when it snows they work and i might add for know more money! The average grader man takes care of 90+ miles of road so trust me they dont sit around all the time with there feet up. Now do i think the dirt roads suck. Hell yes!!! I live on one and i hate it. but are they going to change? Nope unless you want to pay a lot more taxes. Ive seen several commissoner come and go and some have good ideas just not the money to back them up. So if youre looking for some big change all i can tell you is you better pack up and move on the highway!!!!

Amen! You have to consider volume, weight, and speed of traffic over the road. That is one reason surrounding counties, like Ozark, have smoother roads, less traffic! Another is the actual soil and geology isn't the same.

Why do county roads get so rough? Because people drive 50 and 60 on them. I have been around dirt moving equipment and building of roads and bridges for several years. It is to dry to grade just makes dust and rolls rocks out. It is severely dry. I dug down 7 feet today it was just powder

Legally the commissioners have to meet 2 days a week--Sexton uses it as his part time job although no doubt he does a lot of auction driving on the taxpayers dime.
Chuck Robson is now running for so. commissioner on a platform of working full time. It will be his only job and he wants to be a public servant--isn't that a unique idea in today's politics...Think about him on Aug 7th--he has done a lot for West Plains on a volunteer basis and I think he would listen, work hard, and if it can't be done--he will be honest with you. He is the kind of guy that I want working for me...

I will be voting for Chuck.I have had some rain in the Southfork area this past week and have'nt seen a road grader. Now the County Road crew did work all week on the road in front of one of Floyd Rhine's rent houses.Bottom line we need a new Southern Commissioner for Howell County.Bottom line its Billy's job to get the roads graded.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Pisces

It's a great day for fixing anything that needs attention now. That might be a dripping tap, a sick child, an unpaid bill or a miffed partner. However, you'll do particularly well if you need to sort out something connected with official or joint finances or red tape. You might be asked to help someone deal with a bureaucratic problem, especially if they're elderly.
