Cemex closing in on deal for Rinker

well that's just great,no doubt cemex will thrash rinker the same way they thrashed rmc/ar ready mix when they took over in 2005.good luck to my fellow driver who thought their job was secure.

since cemex took over rmc in 2005,there has been 2 plants closed and 3 more due to close at the end of may,also 50 percent of the customers have went to the competition,cemex boast about how well they take care of their employees,well I don't know about anywhere else but in marysville,woodland,dixon,fair fieldand lake herman California drivers have lost their livelihoods and thier faith in the o mighty cemex.rinker drivers look for new jobs now!

cemex is the worst thing that can happen to a good readymix company. before they took over all 40 drivers in the Anioch yard were getting 50 to 70 hours a week now the bottom 20 drivers avrege 20 hours a week while drivers from 10 to 20 only get about 30 hours all day long (until quiting time 12:00 pm) i talk to custumers and all they say is how much they hate dealing with cemex! it sucks to pay bills aquired on a 75.0000 a year job on a 40.0000 a year budget. rinker drivers run far far away!!!!!!! p.s. nothern AR drivers, that paid by the load did not work out so well did it? LOCAL 315 PROUD!!!!!!

Antioch driver is right, same thing happened to ATM in the central valley. And you have to fight with HR
to get them to go by the contract, Local 439

Just got laid off on Jan 25 , 08.
Entire plant closed and only about 5 ready-mix drivers left.Only to work at a plant further south.
I feel like I got the shaft.This whole Rinker deal sucks.
Cemex gave them control of Florida and Arizona and lots of people got their walking papers.

Knew cemex was crap when the "cemex way" team came in to implement a system that took the company back 5 years..they not only have driven away the customer base but they have driven the best of what made rmc profitable away....they took a money makin northern ca division and reduced it to nothin...how many cemex trucks do you see on the road...I see only hanson and cenral..run from cemex...if you are employee get out soon....

I'm from UK, taken over by Cemex in 2005; worked for RMC. They have reduced the concrete works from 40 workers down to 13. The HR team has just arrived to pay off anothe 7 workers. The UK has just about been taken over completely by foreign companies who are bleeding us dry. The UK will be a third world country in less than a decade as all these companies retreat back to their own countries as the credit squeeze tightens.

you guys are so right cemex ruined many employees lives alot of people lost homes and they just let people go and never seemed to care about anyone or the starving familys. I hate the way that cemex treats thier employees.They still owe many workers for not giving them a lunch break.many past and present employees are owed thousands for this but will they ever see it i doubt it.

man cemex sucks when i started at the plant i work at all of the employees were getting 40+hrs and the cemex took over we'er down to 32hrs a week and things to look better man i miss rinker

well, i am convinced its not just where i work that cemex has ruined a once good company to work for.customers here hate cemex too.they have cut our hours, took 4000 a year in safety bonus, gave us tracking phones with gps, so they can see exactly where we are(they dont trust us at all).thanks all you guys for the info.good luck all.

Well John at least you were not part of the block plant closings. I hope for all it does not happen to you like it has for so many already. Raise prices, treat employees like commodities, and continue to pump money to Montery. I hope nobody here has their 401k tied up in their stock, down to around $11.70 today! OUCH! The management of Cemex are borish losers.

There is to many idiots running things.tthey are running everything into the ground. Someone with a good head on there shoulders needs to run things.Instead of a bunch of college educated idiots

Perfect storm against CX !!!

Now there are rumors of cement imports to Mexico by former employees.

Additionally to the current situation of CX, now 4 key factors start serious rumors of cement imports to Mexico.

1)Cement spare capacity due to construction slowdown worldwide

2) Reduced freight prices

3) Former employees with knowledge of the industry and eager for revenge.

4) Felipe Calderon’s policy against monopoly practices

Well as we see now Cemex stock is falling like a concrete block in water.And now with Venezuela taking over several of their plants,its no wonder they are still in buisness.I am a former Rinker employee from Fla.When this takeover was done alot of us new the end was near for most of us.I was one of the lucky plants that had to be sold off seperately along with 38 other plants.We now are part of Old Castle and although they are fairly new in this buisness they seem to have the correct people in place to keep things running as smooth as they can.They have had some layoffs but noyhing even close to Cemex.

still barely hangin on at cemex in nc.a driver where safety is drilled in our brains.safety safety saftey.but wait till the tires are bald to change them.layoff the mechanics and if the brakes are bad we will send the truck off when we are not so busy.safety safety safety.sure take your truck up or down that steep embankment and if ya get stuck we wont send a wrecker, they cost too much.we will send another truck to try and pull ya out.and if ya tear something up we will write you up and send you home for a few days.its sooooo sad to see a once smooth operated business go to hell so fast.and nobody cares.

one more thing.if any cemex employee or exemployee wants a good laugh.check out your last cemex magazine and check out the tall dude on page 16.check out his crotch.is that an asshole.probably so.what the hell is it?

just one more thing.all cemex thinks about is safety and saving and cutting and saving fuel, but they throw away more money doing the stupidest things.they cannot possibly survive.am i a disgruntled employee? yea, me and 100 percent of the people i work with.

I suggest all customers and potential customers buy American. Support your local ready-mix companies. Don't send money to Montreal Mexico.
