Auto Transport America vanishes from West Palm Beach headquarters

Palm Beach County officials checking on Auto Transport America's headquarters in West Palm Beach on Thursday found the parking lot empty of cars waiting to be shipped, the company's name scraped off the locked front door, and a 'for lease' sign outside.

That leaves many retiree snowbirds, such as Jerry Kerzner, wondering if the company is out of business - and if he's lost the hundreds of dollars he paid Auto Transport in advance to have his car delivered from his upstate New York summer home back to Delray Beach this fall.

American Auto Transport was to deliver my car in May. After four weeks w/ very little success, unanswered phone calls, full voice message machines, and then now phone at all, I finally sent a man down to get my car and drive it north. Of course, I lost my $900, which has never been returned. I spoke w/ a young lady who said they would return my check. However, it never was. I just received a letter that they are insolvent.

Another comment. I realized that they cashed my check immediately, which was sent a month ahead of pick-up time. Then they had my car picked up on May 14th, 6 days after they officially ceased business. They said they would send my check back after I sent another man down to pick it up (when I FINALLY got through to them). I have NEVER received a check from them for $900.

East Coast Auto has sent out letters to former Auto Transport America customers disclaiming any connection with them. What a joke. Two former employees/owners of Auto Transport are being employed by East Coast. They still will not accept credit cards from customers, which is the only way I would ever deal with a transporter, but definitely not East Coast. I suspect collusion.
