I have to agree with Jarrett that East Orange has gone down tremendously. But unlike him I feel it is due to a combination of things not limited to how our children are being reared, educated and the establishment pulling out for greener pastures; and people in general not caring

I feel EO started going downhill when Newark starting tearing down all the projects. Those folks had to migrate somewhere and since EO has become a section 8 town. What better place. EO is trying to make a come back but with all the gang activity going on there now. It may be short lived..

rick AOL	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #10 Dec 30, 2007 Judged: 6 3 3 why, when black people speak up about the negative things other blacks do, are we attacked? i own a home in irvington and i've seen my block dirtied and criminalized by other 'brothers and sisters'. why do i go into white neighborhoods and see the value they put on their homes and streets and then when i come back to my neighborhood i have to have people leaning on my fence dropping potato chip bags beer bottles and crack vials in front of my house. an i have to ask them nicely not to do it for fear of my property or my life? face it... black people have accepted blight as the norm

Eventually they will be run down like the rest of the area. EO needs significant changes that run deeper than a few new housing developments. Until they fix the real problems, no matter what they build it will become like the rest of the city.

I found my apt on the internet and visted once and thought the neighboorhood looked nice. I'm right by the park and I have pets so I thought it would be a good place to live. The first couple of months were fine but I have to say, it is getting a bit scary. I have seen used needles, beer bottles and trash along the roadside, sidewalks and yards increasing over the last few months. It's very sad. The park is such pretty place.

hawk Mountainside, NJ	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #16 Jan 30, 2008 i own property in EO and have lived there for the last 4 yrs. when i bought it things looked promising but im sorry to say i dont see much signifigant change going on. they tear down a buildin to put the same poeple in a new one across the street. you cant park on the street because they need to keep them clean at 2 am (yeah ok) theres trash all over, never heard of alternate side of the street parking. the new thing for homeowners is flood areas that if you magically end up in one they force you to obtain flood insurance which is bullshit. my mortgage went up a extra 600 a month due to this. as far as urban development i think the closest thing we wil se to it is newark

Black, police black, council black he'll everything black including local drug dealers and Gang members. This was a very nice town/ city at one time! WTF with no diversity what can we expect. To many black in one area in not good. F--k--g waist of space on the map! I'm black also, but the truth is the truth!
