I just love the winter time and heat of summer. My utility stocks shoot through the roof and those dividend checks are wonderful. Can't wait for gas to go back up to $4.00 per gal.
You folks just keep on using electricity and fuel like there is no tomorrow. The utilities will keep on hiking up the prices and I will enjoy my cruises because of my dividend checks. Love ya...mean it.

Just out of curiosity does it say anything on the bill about the meter reading besing estimated. good possibility with weather and such that they just did an estimate instead of reading meters and if so it will level out when the meters are read for the next billing statement . Also think about reading your meter yourself and comparing it to what they have posted on the bill.

I opened mine to find that it has almost tripled!! I usally pay 150 to 200 this one was 398. I even called the people who put my heat pump in and they checked it all out and it was fine . Called Duke and I heard the same thing everyone eles has. Funny I am at home all day and when I see duke pull in they never read the meters!!! I am mad so if you have loved ones at home who have Duke you need to tell them to watch for the duke men and make them get out and read the meters . OL mister Duke want like me when i see him coming around again

Well all the duke power men go to that cabin in the woods there on Toms Creek and They take their forwheelers to get up in there on wednesday night. That is about time when church takes up. Duke Power is not pulling anyones leg here. I think we all need to go to Duke and give them a peice of mind Just why do they sit in their trucks and not even get out to read a meter they pull in sit in the truck and pull back out. I will be waiting next time!

When I contacted DUKE ENERGY they said that my meter is read by the MOST ACCURATE method - the MOBILE METER READING unit.

But, if it WAS read incorrectly, it would be caught the next month.

Somehow, I don't feel better about that.

They have a new way of reading the meters now. The go to one central point and a hand held device pulls the reading. They don't have to get out of the truck anymore. I have not seen a meter reader get out in at least 5 years. This is what the new mobile meter reading is. They are just flat out ripping us off because they know we do not have another choice.

ANYWHO -- they will do an adjustment on yours annually so you though you may not see it now you will.
its not as simple as you choosing a fixed rate then getting all the power you want at that same price
Wrong... Mine has been set at the fixed rate of 102.00 a month for the past 4 yrs. Never changes. In sept, the month that its " evened up" I usually have a few dollars left over for oct bill. If people would stop wasting it, the bills wouldnt be so bad.
turn off lights when not in the room
unplug everything that is instant on. ex: pc's t.vs.plug them up when you want to use them
turn down the heat. this is a biggie... who needs their heat on 70 all the time, even when you are not there???? Ours is always set on 68. if we get cool, put on a sweater.. there is ways to save money if you just take the time to do it.

They dont have to get out of the truck to read the meters. Its all done by the hand held pc they have. Thats why they have to pull in your drive.

i don't get you guys with the fixed rate plan saying you don't pay more.

there has to be an adjustment and they clearly state that on their website.

you must be paying a lot more during the low use months but at some point they have to do adjustments.

There is an adjustment done, but we have never had to pay more at that time. We always have credit built up and the bill issued after the adjustment is less than the normal fixed rate bill.

$102.00 a month? Do you live in a camper? Never changed in 4 years and you get a refund?

Duke pulls this crap every year. Try getting an 'adjustment' on your next bill - every time I catch them it takes a letter to the Utlities Commission to get my bill 'adjusted'.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Sagittarius

You're in the mood to spend today, especially on the spur of the moment. Be careful if you can't afford to make any impulse purchases, because a lack of cash won't stop you! If you do decide to splash out on something, you may be disappointed when you get it home and you might even decide to take it back.
