New One Gun A Months Law Ends Handgun Sales in NJ

What an unbelievably stupid law! Now law abiding citizens won't be able to buy a handgun, but criminals will continue to buy them on the street.

This great news! Now there will be more guns for sale between individuals. You will be able to get guns without the background checks or the government records of the sale.

I am sure New York will follow with the same type of draconian bullshit laws. We in upstate suffer New York City mentality in our lawmakers.

Long time pro gun guy here but is this article accurate? Does this law actually limit handgun transfers to dealers also?

I live in NJ (work in NJ/NY). I'm pro gun control, but realisitic about it (My dad is an NRA member). The bad seeds and politicals are way over the top on this. I was actually looking into getting a gun for home security (with a lock box etc, no kids in my household) but this will make it impossible for me to get one. And if you know Trenton/Camden/AC, then you'll know which streets to go down to buy a handgun for cash if this passes. Which is crap.

Washington State - no gun registration, shall issue pistol permits, open carry legal, no capacity restrictions. And people wonder why I never travel to the east coast....

You can rob banks and not get in any trouble until you get caught. Let me rephrase my comment.
Banning all firearms is the goal. This is the kind of law that works towards that goal. It has nothing to do with crime.

If citizens of New Jersey allow this to stand they deserve what they get. I agree, vote these bastards out, but that's not enough. Organize marches and picket their homes, businesses and offices with LARGE groups. Basically, shut their lives down until they stop taking away your rights!!! Our founding fathers practiced civil disobedience; as long as it's done peacefully it can be effective. Please don't just sit at home and moan about what's happening to you. I'm so thankful that I live in a state (Utah) that may be more conserative than any state but Texas.

Agreed.

One of the main tactics used by the feistein,schumers,pelosi's of the left is to divide and conquer. They use the old who really needs an ak47 to hunt ducks argument. It is a slippery slope for us. Those that think banning 'black guns' won't affect their hunting rifles or shotguns are sadly mistaken. I reiterate, the goal is to ban or serverly restrict all private ownership of all guns. They will just start with the 'bad' ones. Once some crazy sob kills a group with an 870, we'll need to ban shotguns as well, just look at the australian guns law. This debate has never really been about controlling criminals, it is about controlling law abiding citizens with a right (not a privilege) to protect themselves and their families. Everyone needs to be involved, join the NRA, a hunting organization, a constitutional rights organization. Just don't think that because you don't own the wrong kind of gun, that your rights are safe. We are all in this together, don't wait for someone else to do it like they did in england or austailia.

Talk about an end run around the 2nd-A! Very interesting ploy by the anti-gun movement. It's not illegal to own a gun...we'll just make them impossible to get locally. A pox on all of them.

NJ & NY politicians are dumb a.. f... heads! They will get voted out of office or resign in disgrace because they will find themselves in some type of scandal and then their name will be plastered all over the media! Us 2nd Amendment supporters will have the last laugh...

To be legal the transfer would still have to go through an FFL. And the new law would prevent the NJ FFL's from doing the transfer.
