Hello,

Has anyone had a good experience with a local carpet cleaning company and care to make a recommendation? My carpet is disgusting between munchkins tracking in dirt & spilling food & drink all over the place. Looking for a good price, obviously, but they're gonna need good equipment & chemicals for this. Really don't like cleaners who try to upsell or nickle & dime you - just quote me a price & stick to it!

Thanks!

I'm not sure what kind of deal a carpet-cleaning company could give you, but I bet for about what they charge, you could buy yourself a nice steam cleaner and have it every time you needed your carpets cleaned. Since you have "munchkins" and if a pet or two, it would be a good feeling knowing you could clean carpets whenever you needed it done instead of hiring someone to do it and then worry about the cost each time. I bought a Hoover Steam Vac about 8 years ago and it cleans better than any professional cleaners. About 6 years ago my aunt hired a carpet cleaning company to clean all her carpets and she was very dissatisfied-----had several spots that didn't come clean----so she called me and asked if I re-shampoo for her with mine. I did and every one of the spots and stains came out with my Steam Vac. I bought mine at Walmart at a very reasonable price, They have all kind of name brands beside Hoover, too, so I would check them out. JMO. Ask Santa to bring you one for Christmas! ;0)

There was another recent Topix thread in which participants listed several local cleaning companies they liked--within the past month or so.

I so agree with Hummingbird. I have a Hoover carpet cleaner too, and it is no larger than a vacuum cleaner. It does a great job, and I can vacuum more water out of it than a professional carpet cleaner ever did for me. Traffic areas can be done frequently.

WEll Hummingbird and Jenny have the best idea. Now that i'm done remodeling I need 2 rooms and a couch and 2 chairs cleaned. You probably have attachments to clean upholstry too. Been wondering myself what to do..I'm going to invest in a Hoover then.

I called Chad Stahler and his name is in the book. Did a great job. Also not real expensive.

I also have a Hoover. The upholstery attachment does an awesome job. I have had mine for about five years, and it still works as good as when I got it (at Wal-Mart).

New model Hoover Steam Vac at Walmart---$139!

I also want to mention that after I re-"shampooed" my aunt's carpets, the water extracted was still black with dirt even after the carpet cleaner had been out the previous day. I do not know which company she hired to do it, but time I left her house, her carpets were really clean. I love mine!

Well...if you are searching for a company to come in and do the carpet cleaning for you, I highly recommend Stolle's (sp?) They have done cleaning for us and most of the cleaning is purely steam, no soap. They hit stains with cleaners, that's ok. We have used them many times, and always happy with their work. And happy they are locals.

LOL. If it weren't for outing my true identity, I'd only charge $10 an hour, and could do your whole house in about 4 hours----unless it was a 20 room mansion. Believe me, Jenny, when you saw how good a steam claeaner works and how you could easily clean carpets yourself, you'd want one too.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Scorpio

If you haven't seen certain people during the past few days, how about inviting them over for a drink or a meal? You're feeling sociable and will enjoy doing some light entertaining although you'll draw the line at anything too strenuous. It's a lovely day for being in familiar surroundings with some familiar faces, even if all you do is flop on the sofa.
