I remember $.25 and $.10 beer nights @ 1896. The basement in that place was wild, never spent too much time upstairs as that's where you were more likely to get punched for existing. Dear lord that had to be the most efficient and effective way to get loaded, and they would sell you as many 6oz plastic cups of Natural Light as you could carry. Any time people from out of town came to visit me at Marshall I'd treat them to as much of that shit as they could choke down before stumbling back home to my shack on the corner of 14th St. and 7th Avenue.

Here's one I didn't see mentioned, Daddy's Money. If I recall correctly, and there's absolutely no reason why I should, they had a drinkin' with Lincoln all you could drink special for a fiver. The lines were horrific at the bar so you had to make your orders count. I remember the whiskey and cola being Old Crow and Coke. I'm reminded of my fondness for those things every evening I find my tongue with a 5 o'clock shadow.

Lastly, wasn't there a Duds 'n' Suds beside Double Dribble? A laundry mat that served beer, best idea ever. Clean clothes and good times abounded.

Keep Huntington real people, if only in your memories.

Does anyone remember the old bar on Route 60 just past camden park as you were headed into ceredo? It was a white cinder block building and sat on the right side of the road, across from the lime deposit place, it sat almost right up on the road. I think it caught fire and was eventually torn down. I grew up in westmoreland, i remember it, but I cant remember it's name..
...Course 1896 and Yancy's were my favorites,

1896 was by far the most fun I had in H-Town. I remember 10 cent draft night every Friday and Saturday night from 8-10pm. Getting loaded and then stumbling across the street to eat at Subway. There was always the same dude working in Subway. He had an awesome mullett!

There was some guy named B.J. working the front door at 1896 most nights. Stylin' and profilin' in his black leather jacket. And the cover band which played there about every weekend and would play 'Rock and Roll Fantasy' every damn time....sometimes multiple times during the same night.

A buddy of mine got trashed in the basement and was kicked out for passing out. We drug him across Third Ave and into the bathroom at Subway. He locked himself in the bathroom and wouldn't come out. So we left him and went back to 1896. After some time we walked back to Subway and got him out of the bathroom. He was half out of it. We just held up his stamped hand at the door and they let us carry him back inside. He got kicked out again for the same thing.

Only at 1896 could you get kicked out twice on the same night.

I miss sitting at the upstairs bar and watching the city put on their fireworks show on July 4th.
