I reported coyotes on a lawn at Griffith Park after the big fires. One day at dusk I saw three of them watching a faily with small kids on the lawn. I was told by park officials that " new policies were in place to avoid killing the animals." I got the distinct feeling that nothing was going to be done. I was wrong, they sent me a brochure on "what to do if you have a coyote in your yard. "

Kill the mangy mutts. In the battle between man and mutt, they're losing. End it with a shot to the head.

I have seen coyotes around Griffith Park all my life (40+ yrs). It's wilderness.
And Woodland Hills? West Hills? Do the math - Hills equal wildlife. They were there first.
I love how this is news (sarcasm)

In other news, fire is hot. I can't believe somebody got paid to write this article. Anyone who lives in that area, or anywhere in the San Fernando Valley, knows about the coyotes. There everywhere. To whomever wrote the article, please go punch yourself in the face repeatedly.

Coyotes are everywhere in the hills in all these areas. They are getting out of control because the policies allow them to. I love when people say they were here first and they aren't dangerous. Who cares who was here first. Coyotes will eat dogs, cats, babies, small children etc...Many in our neighborhood have lost cats and dogs. But, god forbid someone kill a coyote...that would be mean. Kooks.

If you think Woodland Hills is "Wilderness" you need to get out more.

It says if you see "ANY" wild animals, you are supposed to call the pound and make a wildlife incident report??? You gotta be F@@@ing kidding me.

"Hi, I'm calling to file an incident report."

"What happened?"

"As we speak, I can see a squirrel on my lawn."

Everyone who's reading this should do the same - flood Animal Control to report squirrels, pigeons, sparrows, crows, possums, ducks,r abbits, and bugs. And keep doing it, every time you see one.

If they get punished for their own stupidity - and the Daily News' poor writing...they might actually learn something.

now that was funny! Where I live, the coyotes are alive and well. You can hear them yelping every night, when they have captured their prey. I live in ventura county

When I lived in Encino I saw a coyote walking on the sidewalk at high noon on Killion St., next to the 101 freeway, minding his own business and walking very confidently.

This is just about 1/4 mile from the foothills -- they are everywhere.

Raccoons are becoming a problem in the Valley -- they are running wild in the sewers and coming up into neighborhoods. Lots of wildlife out there!

Add to that, possums, a gazillion squirrels and rats, and it's a real animal festival out there.

I live in West Hills and we have had cyotoes for 7 years now.. LOLOL. What's new.. I happen to think their pretty, I leave them alone, and let them do their thing. If you have an animal outside during the evening, (which you should not due to it being inhumane) then bring them in at nights like you go in at nights.. Leave them alone..
