I guess that is a moot point now, considering Friday night. Hope that you were at the game cheering for the Redbirds.

Talking about the crowd being duds? Did you look to the Southern end zone and notice anything missing. Like lack of students and the "Paint Crew"? That end zone used to be full of high school students. The current school admin. put an abrupt halt to that! They strong armed the Crew and keep the kids from gathering there. That HAD been the students area for years! And I mean years! That's where I hung out to watch the games and cheer on the Birds more than 20 yrs. ago. You want a crowd to return and do some cheering? Get the administrators to take those corn cobs out of their tail ends and maybe people will start showing up and shaking their tailfeathers!?! Especially the students!

I agree. Blame the school board,Goins and his golf buddy principal. I heard this was going to happen. This pricipal comes in and takes away our traditions. Our kids have done this for years and now he wants to get rid of the fun our kids have. There is nothing in this town for our kids to do so let's take this away too. What a bunch of weanies!!!

Wow. I was shocked by that one. Any reason why they did that? I sure missed seeing them there.

Because the new principal wants to show everyone who is boss and how tough he is.

I understand that he is the boss. That is the principals job. What was his reasoning behind this decision if any? Respect is better earned not demanded.

They didn't 'strong arm' the students. All they wanted the students to do is put on their shirts. The students couldn't even do that. The parents and everyone throws a fit about it. Just put on a shirt and support your team. They could still gather on the south side of the endzone with their shirts on. You need to know the whole story. The students were warned about it but ignored the administration. You need to start looking at the big picture and how 75% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. This is why our athletics and everything are getting worse. When you have a poverty stricken area, there are more kids that are lazy and the ones that aren't. My parents always told me if I play sports, they will buy me a car, pay for gas and insurance. If not, I have to get a job and pay for everything. Now, my first car wasn't nice, but I loved it.

These days many, not all, but many kids don't play sports and are still given everything. Even though I was a three sport athlete here, I still had a summer job to help out my my financial situation( lunch money, extra gas, dates, etc) You can sit on your computer and blame the administration, coaches or whoever you want. You need to start looking at your parenting skills. If you don't set goals for your child, he/she won't strive to reach those goals. If you do set goals, they will strive to reach them and reinforce them for reaching those goals. However, you have to set parameters for punishment along the way. This is just my thoughts on this whole paint crew/coaching/administration deal.

Well that may be true. We are a poverty area and most of the kids are on free or reduced lunch. We had a cheering section that gave these kids a boost, let alone the fact that there is not much to do in this town for our kids. What did the paint crew hurt? They've done this for years and it never was a problem, but I imagine some upstanding citizen probably made a comment and our assit. principal couldn't wait to use his power. I think it made him feel like the big man he isn't. He moves into our town from a town that doesn't want him(guess why)and takes over. This was a tradition and gave these boys something to look forward to, and I think actually cheered our boys on. Thank our "new" administration for a lot of crap. Goins and his buddies are disliked by about everone I know. I haven't heard one good thing from anyone!

When you're to "administration" you need to say who you are referring too. I, for one, like the new principal so you've found one that really likes him. And, the ones I work with at the High school all like him too. Doesn't seem like everybody on this sight who says, "they know it for a fact" actually have the facts.

Funny, I know several at the high school who don't like him or his little asst.Rains. I know several parents who don't like either one of them. We need someone to run the H.S. but not run our kids in the ground where they don't want to go to school or school functions. There is a happy medium and they are not finding it. Stevens may not be so bad but obviously Rains runs the show. It was also said before
Stevens was hired that many of the teachers objected to his hiring.

You can't please all of the people all of the time. It doesn't matter who leads FCHS, there are gonna be gripers and complainers. I'm sure some of the people who griped and complained under Mr. H are happy now, and people who were happy with Mr. H are griping and complaining now. The perfect principal does not exist, because principals are human, and the perfect human does not exist. We have to take the good with the bad. The bottom line, I believe, will be at the end of the year when the test scores come back.

Joe Dirt, I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee, you do not have to be an athelete to have a job and have goals. Some of our atheletes in this district have been handed everything and some have been the biggest jerks, snobs and bullies around. Just the other day three of these hardworking atheletes were spotted drinking in C'dale, all were underage! OH yeah, when you talk about the kids at school...all kids count even the ones who aren't in sports!

You know J B T, I agree with part of what you say. All kids do count, not just the athletes. Thats why I think kids should be encouraged by parents and all to get involved. It may not be sports, it could be Band, FFA, school plays, etc. Yet I believe that sports are one of the best ways for children to develop good habits that carry on for life. And yes there are some snobs. That is the way that some small town athletes are. But, a lot of the athletes we have are not like that. They are nice, hard working, considerate kids. Like anything, you have bad in all. The bad seed doesn't understand that they are looked at with more scrutiny when they are an athlete. And I believe that they should be held to a higher standard. They represent there school, families, community, and so on. They are looked up to by smaller children. They are in the spotlight by there own choice. For this they should set a good example. I have children that are athletes, and I know they are not perfect. But, they are not to bad either. They are encouraged at home to be kind, personable, and caring for others. They are taught to do the right thing. If I find out otherwise, it will be addressed. As for the athletes drinking, that is not acceptable. I HOPE that mine have not and will not do that, but my kids are not perfect. I can assure you that I and other parents would deal with this if my or there kids were involved. Have you talked or can you speak to the parents of these kids? Maybe they should know about this. They may choose to ignore or do nothing, but that is there choice. And hey, how about this. Next sporting event, school play, band concert, or whatever go and cheer for or watch those good kids that we have here. Just don't judge the whole lot by a few.
