The other evening our school hosted coronation. Once again, our verbally challenged head football coach was required to give a motivational, inspiring speech.
It was no surprise when all he could seem to say was to repeat his tired, sad preseason litany. Once again he used his soothsaying abilities to foretell the worthless futures of those who had dared to quit his team. He called into question their capabilities to be productive citizens, students, fathers or career orientated persons. He did not mention the seniors or thank them for sticking around for his disappointing attempts at coaching. My son did not quit his friends, or THE TEAM. He quit YOU coach spence. One thing that every one of those boys who quit this sport have or had in common is YOU, coach spence. THAT is the common denominator. Thank GOD, my son does not aspire to mow lawns for a living or to become a lifelong employee of mcdonalds. Although he had NEVER quit anything in his life, and we did not agree with him letting you get the better of him, because you are by far a LESSER man in our opinion, we RESPECT his CHOICE. I think you have 14 kids left. I think that says ALL that needs to be said. |

Rum, this is not only true of football,look at the basketball team! How many quit because of THAT coach? Something needs to be done about almost all of our sports programs! We seem to be the laughing stock of Southern Illinois because of our coaches. |

Guess all the admins are out golfing instead of over seeing the minions..OK Donkin....time to quit hiding,and get things straightened out,do your job,like you are paid to do!The one you were elected to do.You can be replaced also.

Not sure if you understand, but you should check into what Donkin's job description is. It isn't one man who is in charge of handling all the problems and quabbles, my dear lad.

Have a problem with the coach, take it up with the Athletic Director. Maybe the principal and/or school board. The Regional Superintendent does not have a role in that area. |

Somethings never change! I don't have anybody attending FCHS or playing sports anymore however this all sounds familiar. When a team does well(regional,sectional,STATE) its the kids who take the WF coaches there not the coach. The place to start looking at is the A.D. Cut off the head and the body will die.

Been there done that to no avail. We are talking about WF sports,remember? |

back to Educational / to top OMBUDSMAN ROLE The Regional Office of Education often serves as ombudsman as citizens raise issues and have disputes involving parents, children and schools. Examples of this role include issues in the following areas: Busing; Home schooling; Homeless children; Residency; District boundaries; Pregnant students; Truancy; Disagreements between parents and districts; and School district reorganization. http://www.iarss.org/responsibilities/additio... Remove any member of a school board for failure to perform official duties Respond to questions and concerns, including legal questions, from parents, teachers, administrators, board of education and other citizens. I still think he needs to be involved |

The Regional Superintendent of Schools is the chief administrative officer of a Regional Office of Education, and the only elected education professional office in Illinois. As an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts, the office of the Regional Superintendent performs regulatory functions as directed by the Illinois School Code. The Code states that "the Regional Superintendent of Schools:
... shall exercise supervision and control over all school districts in the region. During the course of the school year, the Regional Superintendent and his staff receive numerous telephone calls, letters and visits from parents, school personnel, and citizens concerning a multitude of educational concerns. It is the policy of the Regional Superintendent to give prompt service and accurate information to any individual or group seeking assistance. It is his job to be involved, Bet he is involved around the next election! |

I don't know where to start, but Fridays game was a shame. It had nothing to do with the score or the way the boys played. The boys played there very best. One of the things that bothered me is the fact that there were only 20 boys dressed and ready to play. Why are the boys not playing? I left in the middle of the 3rd quarter(cold weather got to me), but I can see why these boys don't want to play. The coach was walking up and down in front of the players like a caged animal. He seemed to yell and scream at them for every little mistake that they made. It seemed from where I sat that the boys were trying there very best. But, I did not see him praise or congratulate any of his players during the game. Could this be one of the reasons that they do not have many players? If I had only 20 players, I would try to change my ways a little and try to see that the remaining boys were at least praised a little. I don't think that the coach should overlook every miscue and let the boys misbehave and such, but give them SOME praise. How would he feel if someone screamed and CURSED at him all of the time in front of people when he made a mistake during the game? And then I was told that after the game that they stood in a huddle at the middle of the field for 15 minutes after the game. Why did he not let them get out of the cold and discuss this in the locker room? I was also told that he seemed like a caged animal when he was out there also. New coach perhaps, new strategy; definitely.

Hahahaha i hear that one! We will actually PAY you to take coach clod off of our hands! |
||||
That will never happen, too many people think everything is great in WF school dist.. They close their eyes and unless it DIRECTLY affects them, they don't care. Apathy!! |
||||
Do you really think you have enough money to unload that Trojan horse. Hey, from what I have heard that you really got it stuck to you on that one. Feel sorry for you, and even more sorry for the kids if everything I hear is true. |
