Thats a lucky 2000 people that have a chance to get out of that terrible town. From what I've read about it, with the Mayor going nuts and chasing people with his car, and the terrible school system in so much trouble, not to mention recently arrested teachers, there's a lot of bad things going on for such a small place....I have family relocated there. They are starting to wake up to the under current as well..........

Ever wonder why American made products are so expensive and are not as reliable as foreign made? Simple...UNIONS! How much pay do the unions deduct from each worker? And what does that get them, and us, the consumer?
It forces employers to employee sub-par workers that, in the real world, would be and should be fired. But with the union’s protection, employers are forced to baby-sit these dregs! So, we the consumer, end up paying for low quality products. Now, I’m not saying all are incompetent, but I've supervised enough union employees to know that their pride does not revolve around the quality of work the put out. Typically the bad ones (and there seems to be a bunch) pride themselves on the amount of money they make for doing so little! I say it is about time the automakers get rid of the old dead weight they’ve had to carry for all these years. And another thing, why do union workers always think they are “owed” something extra? It is a privilege to work and not a right! You know the ones I’m talking about…the employees that are always getting “f***’d over” by their boss and how their going to get even. They’re the same people that don’t see that repeatedly calling in sick, taking long breaks, standing at the time clock 15 minutes before the end of the day, and all-around general malingering hurts their respective employers bottom line. Finally, being prior military, I understand obligation and following rules; especially, when it comes to drug use. I personally know several GM workers that smoke dope 24-7. How do they pass the drug test? Are the rich, drug free union people passing out clean urine? ….bottom line, follow the rules, do your job and take pride in the work you do! Don’t work 12 hours a day trying to get over on your employer and he won’t have to fire your ass. If this happened, the lazy scumbags wouldn’t need unions to keep them employed. Unfortunately the good employees at GM, Ford and Chrysler have to pay to keep those turds employed. By the way, I own a Ford and always will and support the legalization of marijuana. |
Not all union workers are crappy workers, yes there are some just like anywhere else. But just like without a union crappy workers can and do get away with scammin', not all get fired. I personally think that the scammers and the ones that are habitually absent all the time should get some of their benefits taken away from them to make them wake up. I never supported the job bank when it was implemented in the early '90's, when my husband first went to work for GM he was always laid off around Christmastime and during shutdown in July so they didn't have to pay the new hirers a bonus. If wages and benefits decrease for the UAW workers the general public isn't going to pay less for the vehicles, vehicle prices have already begun to increase in price. They now have nine year financing on more expensive models! And as far as quality and reliability American made vehicles are made just as well as foreign made........if that weren't the case why then do we see so many older models on the roads!! |

You are correct. The few bums make it rough for the rest. However, as a manager/supervisor union employees are much more difficult to deal with when it comes to reprimands, firing and disciplinary actions. I will even say that rewarding a star union employee is as difficult, if not more difficult. Union bosses don’t want anyone setting too high of a mark for fear that the bar would be too high for the not so good workers. As long as you can save the slacker (typically the person who complains the most) you justify the worth of a union. In my opinion, you are either moving up or moving out! The days of 15, 20, 30 year plus employment are over. 401ks have taken the place of retirement pay and pensions! I'm curious to see if lower annual payroll will benefit the car buyer. Overhead and operating cost have to be covered by the product or service you as a company provide. You may be right...we the consumer may never see the benefit. But it will keep the automakers in business and perhaps be more competitive with foreign automakers. As for older American cars on the road, actually, there are older foreign autos on the road. They just hold up better and never change body style so you don’t notice so much. And, no foreign automaker could ever make a truck with enough guts to pull a load of hot air! |

Most all union workers are highly educated in their trade. Unions provide continuing education programs and inservices. I much would rather have a skilled union worker than some illegal immigrant work on my car or house and have the chance of it catching on fire or blowing up!! The union is the one who made your weekends, saftey rules/regulations(OSHA-which China is always in trouble because they do not have these regulations on the food, toys, etc.) and holidays. I agree with union guy, look up union history. Dont believe the b.s. of others and find the facts yourself. Lets stop being sheep and educate oneself on the true facts. There are too many misconceptions about the union- I am sick of it. These foreign countries are taking away our hard earned American jobs. It hasnt helped our economy, it has only worsened it. Wake up America
