I wouldnt move to wentzville if I was paid too. Nothing but a bunch of slobs that think they have it so great. Its not. 3 murders in the last year, crime increase of over 35% in the last two years. over crowded schools, lots of N-word GM plant workers, meth labs, and soon it will all be developed into a cookie cutter city that looks like every other city, only the economy is so bad a lot of the centers will be built with nothing to go in them, or they will be abandoned when their lease is up. Wentzville is hardly anything special, its a dump. Florissant isnt without its problems but at least it has some decent features like its parks, and the quiet neighborhoods of houses, no trailer parks, and despite what most people think it is very safe. If I were to choose between these two citys I would choose Florissant. I dont live in either, but its easy to see Wentzville is going nowhere. The only reason its being developed is because O'Fallon is bleeding over. Wentzville does not have the administration, the city resources or the school district to handle the growth and it will fail.

I may be mistaken but I can only think of one trailer park in Wentzville and it probably has all of 10 trailers in it. That being said those trailers are probably worth more than a bunch of the homes in Florissant.

agree- you list some crime stats- 3 murders- increase of 35% crime. Where did you get that information? I'd like to have such info to make a decision about housing.

You all are getting Florissant mixed up with its neighbors. Hazelwood and Florissant are fine. Its Jennings, riverview, berkely, etc that are bad, even they are not as bad as north city, or for that matter Wentzville at night. Just because a town has more black people that yours does not make it the hood you f-ing morons. You idiots are what is wrong with this country. Theres a reason people in Florissant are happier than you, its because they figured out how to live with people different than themsleves. I'd bet most of you would have your house on the market within a month if a black family moved in next to you. And as far as the trailer parks go, there is more than one and you know it. Dont lie.
Florissant is a fine town, its not the hood. Your entitled to your own opinion, and I am entitled to tell you your wrong. Florissant still has a very low crime rate, and is still a very quiet family oriented community. I have to work out there quite often doing installs and find the town way to harshly judged by snobs like yourself that think your better than others just because you moved into a house that looks like every other house around it. Wentzville will fail miserably because of people like you, not being able to accept people who are different. If you have the right to assume Florissant is a bad area then the people of Florissant have the right to assume Wentzville is full of idiots like yourself.

I have lived there for 7 1/2! It is not a bad place. In the last 4 years it haves got soooo much better when I 1st moved in! It is not the Projects! Not all of it is Govt housing! How would you know?? They don't have a armed guard at the entrance to keep better tabs on the residents! It was not were the murderer was hiding at! You are making lies about a place that you don't know enogh thing about! Until you live in it you don't know things about it! So stop saying things about it that are not true! This is hilarious. I have lived in Florissant and Hidden Valley, Wentzville years ago. I also lived in North City for a short while, and then in Ballwin and Chesterfield. As far as Florissant and Wentzville are concerned they are both equal in my eyes. Florissant had its gangs and Wentzville has its clannish white rednecks. Both are a pain in the a$$ to live around but you get over it and move on. This petty fighting back and forth is ridiculous. I am a white woman who at the time was married to a black man who was a baptist minister. Both towns are full of racist idiots that make life harder for others. But you will find that in any town, city, country. Get over it and live your life.

I think that Wentzville should have a new town hall building.

I came across this forum Googling Wentzville. I have to say that none of the Wentzville residents in this particular thread make Wentzville sound even remotely appealing. But as a resident of 6 years, I object.

And as a resident of the alleged "eye sore" of Wentzville, also known as Hidden Valley Estates, I am deeply offended by the claims that my home is an eye sore and/or an insult to Wentzville resident's apparent fragile sensibilities. I might also point out the obvious contradiction in saying that it's not visible from the "nicer areas" but it is an eye sore. There are only two places this neighborhood is visible from: 1) the neighborhood that was built directly around it by tearing up several square miles of forestry and 2) inside the 'hood. I've flown over this area in a small aircraft (and have the photographs to prove it). The "nicer" neighborhoods around Hidden Valley Estates and the bare patches yet to be developed are a HUGE eyesore - and a terrible shame. A lot of displaced wildlife is either dead or have moved on.(turkeys, coyotes, opossum, raccoons, etc.)

I lived in a so-called nice neighborhood in St. Peters for 14 years as a youth. In that time, I was physically assaulted, propositioned by a drive-by pervert displaying his unmentionables and trying to get me into his car (I was 15 at the time), and saw first hand the vandalism and destruction of private property by well-to-do hoodlums. I won't even get into the lack of law enforcement as it applies to domestic violence.

In contrast, I have not once been the victim of crime or civil rights violations in my "eye sore" of a low income 'hood. There are no "armed guards" at the entrance - we have diligent security (some are off duty police officers with second jobs) looking out for our well being and keeping the real riffraff out. If you have a criminal record, the riffraff is you. Criminal background checks are required for residency, so I am happy to report that unlike "nicer" neighborhoods, there are no sex offenders living in my 'hood. The back entrance was closed off to prevent people from sneaking onto private property, not off of it. We're living in a prison or a housing project?

Our homes are well maintained, a point of pride, and I don't see anything wrong with having working class neighbors. I am proud and content to call Wentzville my home, despite having elitist residents nearby. Thank goodness none of them are my immediate neighbors, what an ear sore.

All of that aside, if you're thinking of moving to Wentzville, I *would* recommend it. All shopping within 5 minutes driving distance anywhere in or around town, great residents (for the most part), low crime (at least in my neighborhood), access to two highways, diligent & respectful law enforcement, and multiple wonderful parks for recreation. Florissant residents more than welcome!

proudresident, very well said. i worked in wentzville for 13 years and lived in wentzville for several of those years. i always felt safe as a single middle aged woman. it was a small town with both the gm plant and it was the corporate headquarters for a nice sized telecom for years before the town itsself grew. the mayor is questionable, but he was elected by the majority and i do love our democracy. just my opinion but i really like the florissant area also. gotta love old time pottery - so many of us were crushed when it left wentzville.
the best neighborhoods are made up of young, old, rich, poor & multicolor/multicultures. wentzville is clean and safe - it's up to you if you find it friendly.

I was sad when Old Time Pottery left Wentzville too. On the other hand, a lot of new business has cropped up here in the last few years. Kohl's, Dierburg's, Home Depot, etc. Traffic has gotten heavier as a result but nothing too awful.

I lived in Florissant for 2 years over a decade ago and I have no complaints. Seemed to have plenty of business and I had nice, respectful neighbors. I have noticed the more diverse areas seem to take more pride in their town, one gets a real sense of community.

I'm pretty sure that place is called Hidden Valley.We moved there when it first was built over twenty yrs ago when I was a teenager..Then we did not have a armed guard then.I also lived in the Heights and that is on the other end of town passed the old A&W stand.I haven't been to Wentzville in years.I do know the school has always been one of the tops schools in MO.

Hi Crystal,when did you live in Hidden Valley?I was there around '83-85' on the back road called Tree Top CT.I still remember that street.They had just built the back part when we moved there.Which part of North St. Louis did you live?I am also from there.
